View Full Version : The Election
Curly Howard 11-02-2004, 11:11 PM I can not believe in this era of high speed computing that we still have to punch cards to vote. States taking days to count votes is crazy. Oregon mailing in their cards? It's possible that we won't know who won for days.
Set up a server for each county and electronically vote. The data is counted and the outcome is known minutes after the polls close.
:usa:
Also......
If you're going to vote, know who's you're voting for in ALL the races. I stood in line waiting for a booth while people stared blankly at their ballet trying to decide what prop 21 is or who they should choose for congress. Local government effects you a hell of a lot more than the President. I've heard people preach about Kerry or Bush and not have a clue who's running for Governor.
Curly Howard 11-02-2004, 11:12 PM Sorry, I'm just bored.
nance 11-02-2004, 11:14 PM Sorry, I'm just bored.
Me too.
GeNeRaL 11-02-2004, 11:14 PM It's ok. who can trust a computerized server to handle it? they get hacked and its a disaster. hooray for diebold crap.
Curly Howard 11-02-2004, 11:19 PM How can it get hacked on a private network with no outside connections?
Curly Howard 11-02-2004, 11:20 PM Me too.
Wanna make out?
realkaps 11-02-2004, 11:30 PM I had a touch screen voting thing, I know I said I wasnt gonna vote, but I found out I was registered so I dragged my ass down there....
nance 11-02-2004, 11:38 PM :flirt: :yes(1): Wanna make out?
Deacon Frost 11-03-2004, 12:07 AM It's all rigged anyway. As much as I wish otherwise, like Kerry is gonna win.
I voted for Kerry and it sounds like some mad bull**** again this year....Purity Cuba will have to wait i have some business to handle *Grabs Sledge Hammer*
GeNeRaL 11-03-2004, 09:21 AM How can it get hacked on a private network with no outside connections?
someone goes in, and figures it out lol rigs the vote count.
those machines from diebold have all sorts of software glitches and all. plus then if one failed thats it....none of that towns likely thousands of votes count.
Squezze 11-03-2004, 09:35 AM Your system sucks.
I mean, when it takes DAYS to figure out who your president is, then you know there's something wrong. It usually takes hours to figure out who wins in Canada,
And yes, I realize that the US has way way more people than Canada, but your system still sucks moose ****.
I voted for Kerry
I love you.
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 10:19 AM So, the whole voting experience went pretty smoothly for me... I stayed awake seeing how the whole north east and the west coast were blue... And the rest of those ****ing rednecks states were, well, friggin' red. We're like two completely different countries with completely different ideologies.
For more years with Bush, man... Un-****ing-real.
Squezze 11-03-2004, 10:24 AM The incumbant president dosen't seem to ever lose the election. At least to me, anyways. Seems like you guys only get a new prez when the old one is forced out after he serves his maximum term.
Bush Sr. got booted after one term.
nance 11-03-2004, 10:54 AM The incumbant president dosen't seem to ever lose the election. At least to me, anyways. Seems like you guys only get a new prez when the old one is forced out after he serves his maximum term.
The senior Bush lost to Clinton. So it's not that way at all.

Those ****in **** kicking states shouldn't even count for christ sake...All they care about is passing a law against cow tipping. I mean its crazy this year we had record turnouts and what for?? to see the same states vote republican..People are so naive they think just because they are registered republicans they have to vote republican...thats bull****, Im a registered republican and you couldn't pay me enough money to vote for that ****in puppet chimp BUSH. It really says alot for him when hes been in office 4 years and almost 50% of the people want him out!! Sorry about the rant, I'm just really pissed about this whole thing from the way the votes are tallied to the stupid electoral system we have.
nance 11-03-2004, 11:20 AM I think it's pretty sad how there is no respect for other states and ya'll think yours is the best and nothing else matters.
SO much for being a UNITED nation.
Fallout 11-03-2004, 11:26 AM I think it's pretty sad how there is no respect for other states and ya'll think yours is the best and nothing else matters.
SO much for being a UNITED nation.
You aren't a united nation however. It still think its funny that the majority of people who voted for Bush were most worried about was terrorism. No offence to Billy Bob in Hicksvile USA, but Osama is not gonna bomb a cattle ranch.
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 11:31 AM I don't think we have ever been a UNITED nation. I happen to have more things in common with a european person or a Canuck (did I just ****ing say that?) than with a ****ing redneck.
nickeboy 11-03-2004, 11:33 AM http://www.cnn.com/
DAMN IT!!!
You're absolutely right Creed. I think Religion played a big part in Bush winning. Which to me is very sad. Religion and Politics should not mix.
I don't think we have ever been a UNITED nation. I happen to have more things in common with a european person or a Canuck (did I just ****ing say that?) than with a ****ing redneck.
Abso****inlutely!!! The south is a ****ing nasty disease to the rest of this country.
nickeboy 11-03-2004, 11:37 AM I wouldn't mind those other states voting and having a say..but vote for the right reasons not because of race and religion!! Also we need to get Bush's ****in brother out of FL...if he wasn't there Kerry would have taken FL easily and we would have a New President! Time for plan B...Plans for ASSASSINATION!!!
nance 11-03-2004, 11:37 AM You aren't a united nation however. It still think its funny that the majority of people who voted for Bush were most worried about was terrorism. No offence to Billy Bob in Hicksvile USA, but Osama is not gonna bomb a cattle ranch.
And you know this HOW? You don't even live in this country, yet you spout off like you know the American people so well.
How many of you here have traveled from one end of the country to the other and actually LIVED and BREATHED the lifestyle of different regions of this country?? My Dad and I have. I've lived from one end to the other, going east and west, north and south. There are all walks of life within our country and out of everything I've seen, Billy Bob in Hicksville USA has more respect for others than I've seen elsewhere.
We are called the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. We are all the same in that respect, but many people lack respect for those who live in other states. In this country we all have freedom of speech and the right to vote for who we want. Yet those who don't like how some else votes lack the respect that they themselves want to be given.
That is my main point. RESPECT.
nance 11-03-2004, 11:40 AM I wouldn't mind those other states voting and having a say..but vote for the right reasons not because of race and religion!! Also we need to get Bush's ****in brother out of FL...if he wasn't there Kerry would have taken FL easily and we would have a New President! Time for plan B...Plans for ASSASSINATION!!!
and you just proved my point

DOGGx0 11-03-2004, 12:04 PM Theres votes like mine, where I had to get a provisional ballet because I was voting out of my presinct. It couldnt possibly take a few hours to count up votes like mine where its not electronically done.

Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 12:09 PM I tell you one thing if Hillary runs agains Rudy in 2008, I am voting for my boy Rudy.
Curly Howard 11-03-2004, 12:14 PM I hate to say it, but I would vote for Rudy.
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 12:15 PM Rudy had the best combover in NYC. D. Trump didn't have **** on Rudy.
PS: I now hate Ohio more than that forsaken city named Boston.
DOGGx0 11-03-2004, 12:18 PM You're absolutely right Creed. I think Religion played a big part in Bush winning. Which to me is very sad. Religion and Politics should not mix.
What do you think our original laws and this country was built off of? The Bible.
Dumbass.
DOGGx0 11-03-2004, 12:20 PM The more that you ****bags agree with Creed, the less credibility your comments have.
Curly Howard 11-03-2004, 12:21 PM We should run the country by internet. Anytime there's a problem just go online and vote on the solution.
POLL
Should we raise taxes to help pay for health care?
Yes 68%
No 30%
What are taxes 2%
nance 11-03-2004, 12:24 PM I cannot take credit for this, but I do agree with it and it says more of what I was trying to say earlier. Just more clear.
1) We, ~ no matter race, creed, sex, age, marital or financial status or any other political divisional consideration dreamed up for this election ~ are first and foremost AMERICANS and under that guise we need to work together as a team for the betterment of this country, no matter WHO is in the Oval Office. "There is no ~I~ in team" people.. Quit yer bellachin' and get over it! Think about this: Hillary Clinton is jumping for joy that Kerry didn't win/is out of the Democratic presidential picture and you can BET your bottom dollar HER '08 campaign for presidency begins today! Isn't THAT a scary thought?? Hope Bill NEVER gets to be "First lady"! ROFL!!
2) I wonder WHY we are still counting ballots when the millions of dollars are counted immediately on the Jerry Lewis MD Telethon and he has a nationwide total in less than 24 hrs?? <IMAGE HERE> Why do we have so many types of ballots and ways of counting them? We need a nationwide uniform ballot system AND uniform counting system in this wonderful "land of high technology".. We should NOT have to hand count a dang thing, except add up the total for the 50 states and "whatever it is, just is!" <IMAGE HERE>
3) Last, but not least*** It IS time to eliminate the Electoral College and let the VOTERS choose their president!
DOGGx0 11-03-2004, 12:26 PM We should run the country by internet.

Fallout 11-03-2004, 12:59 PM Has anyone mentioned Bush won the popular vote too? You ****in liberal *****s quit yer *****in......
Yes, he did win. However, its kind of disturbing why people voted for him. The voted for him because a lot of people are worried about gays getting married. The economy is in very bad shape, there is a war thats very unpopular even with people that support Bush, and he won the popular vote. He won the popular vote because of people's fears and ignorance. In a lot of ways, there are some people that are living in the dark ages. It was only 50 years ago that blacks couldn't eat at the same resturants, drink the same water or go to the same schools as whites. It took a massive movement and a huge social upheaval for blacks to even be allowed to sit in the front seat of the bus.
Now homosexuals are fighting for some rights the rest of us take for granted. The right to file a joint tax return, the right to get time off work if thier partnet gets sick or dies. It is not the same as when blacks were fighting for change, but the trend and the fear is the same. People voted for Bush because of social issues like that. Not because he can give them better health care, get them better jobs, or keep them safer. The voted because he can protect them from ****.

you, really, know nothing about why people voted for Bush, and you just proved it after someone who did (me) read why you think we did. you're an idiot, you don't know americans, you know of us. you're in a completely different country acting like you know it all, as if you rested your head here.
realkaps 11-03-2004, 01:08 PM How is it a sad day for america? Most of America agrees with the Choice we made.....
Aaron Bizarre 11-03-2004, 01:09 PM it doesnt scare me that Bush is president but that he is the only pres to even attempt to run during an unpopular war let alone win. If he didnt win it wouldnt matter, there are still more then half of the US that believe in his cause. If Kerry won they would still be bible-blasting-gay-hating-arab-fearing people who think a war in a country not harboring are sworn enemy is gonna protect us from terrorist assaults.
for me its a sad realization of the majority of my homeland.

yeah. but what canya expect.... we're amongst a bunch of internet geeks that can't tell the difference between their head and their ass. i'm preaty convinced that the ****heads of america all post on this forum, excluding a few. its what makes america so great.... you can be an idiot all day long, and say whatever you want. the rest of us dominate, thats why bush is still in office, and we're all sitting here laughing at them, while they continue to ***** and complain.

I do know a lot about America Adam. I talk with americans everyday. I watch your news, I share a language and several key parts of my culture with you (most noteabley music and food). I also read what people say, and what social issues that they support.
More people are worried about gays getting married and someone trying to take thier guns away than quality healthcare and education. Not everyone is like that, but a very large percent of republicans are. 11 states voted to ban gay marriage.
How sad is that?
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 01:15 PM I have to agree with Chubbs and Nullo that most Americans voted based on irrelevant problems like: Gays and marriage. People never really took into considerations bigger problems like the environment or the complete lack of Stem Cell research funding.
I don't consider myself a 100% liberal, but what I can't stand about conservatists is that their false morality influences their decisions. Keep your religion to yourself, Bush won't fund stem cell research or gives a **** about the environment because of his "so called" morals, but he doesn't have a problem sending our brothers and sons to ****in die in a senseless war... That doesn't make any ****ing sense to me. A stem cell is considered to be a living thing to this ****ers, but obviously a young kid is not.
nickeboy 11-03-2004, 01:16 PM I wouldn't say most when it was 51% to 49%...Y do u think we had the highest turnout this year...because people wanted this ****head OUT!! If he is so great it shouldn't have even been close.
realkaps 11-03-2004, 01:20 PM Yeah, when one percentage is higher than the other, that means more or the most out of the 2. Keep cryin *****es, Kerry's makin is speach in 30.....
Curly Howard 11-03-2004, 01:20 PM This is funny, no one I talked to here in **** kicker town said anything about guns or gays. It was jobs and being able to sell their cattle, grain, corn etc at a fair price. No one said anything about being bombed.

Sure, you know alot about America, but don't sit there in ANOTHER country and act like you know it all and how we think, because you don't. About gay marriage.... its the way its always been. Why change? America was built around the Bible, so why complain about it now? Coz we are a "free country" and got more gays than we did before?
You don't have to give me lectures on gay marriage, bro. Honestly. I have a gay step-brother, a gay sister, and one of the 2 believe in gay marriage, however at the same time, John Kerry might have said that gay marriage should be allowed, he also said that he does'nt believe in those gay couples being allowed to adopt children, which is ass backwards. If you're gonna "act" like gay marriage should be allowed because "we're all equal" then you should agree that they should be allowed the right to adopt children, however, even John Kerry... somewhere in his heart... does'nt believe thats right.. he just makes statements that people want to hear, but contridicts himself at the same time with something else. Thats why both gay step-brother and gay sister voted for Bush.
Again, you speak from only what you know, but you are'nt living in it, so acting like you understand is null-in-void.

Purity 11-03-2004, 01:30 PM MCM, does it look like you guys are unitied? I don't count because I am Canadian, but I think Bubz, Nickelboy and Nuno are American.
people are going to always disagree on issues. when we say UNITED States of America, we're not saying that we all think alike like a bunch of ****ing clones. course you wouldn't know that since you don't live here and make the same jackass ASSumptions that every other useless foreigner makes about the people of the U.S. from watching hours and hours of media hype and internet propaganda.
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 01:31 PM California, Oregon, and Washington are mostly Democrat grounds.
And that is exactly my point; The North East and the West Coast tend to support Democrats, redneck country will always be Republican.
nickeboy 11-03-2004, 01:31 PM Why Bush's Bin Laden gaffe is huge.
Here is why this is the only thing we should be talking about today.
Bush found a way to show us, in one brief moment, that he completely lacks integrity and will not level with the American people. With his snide use of the word "egg-za-ger-a-shun," he painted himself as a president who is willing to lie to America about his own statements on the most wanted murderer in American history.
So this fits in with his failure to level with America about Iraq. And jobs. And the deficit. And funding education. And the environment. And every other important issue that we face and that he's failed on. He's not willing to admit any mistake despite his overwhelming record of failure.

Nah, my mom lives in Maryland and voted for Bush... and most states voted for Bush... all over America... Kerry just got votes from the most populated states (which has the most electorial votes)... including ours.
Fallout 11-03-2004, 01:32 PM bush is in office because we're afraid of ****. umm....ok bud.
The south used to be the dems stronghold, but they have lost it because of social issues. Like gun control, the war on drugs, abortion and gay marriage. So, not you and Kaps, you are california republians like Arnold. Arnie kicks ass and I would vote for him if I lived in California. Thats coming from me, someone that would be called a communist in your country.
I am talking about southern republicans. People in Texas and Alabama. Thoses are the ones that vote for Bush on issues like gun control and gay marriage. I really hope Bush softens his tones in the next 4 years. Your country, hell, the world needs to heal.

well i'll agree that gay marriage is an issue but you made it sound like it was the primary issue. and i can guarantee you that most gay marriage critics aren't AFRAID of them. they just don't consider homosexuality a correct form of relationship, therefore it doesn't deserve the same legitimacy of heterosexuality.

Then if not gay marriage, then gun control, or reiligon in schools. Its reasons like that people vote republican and thats the reason they voted for Bush. They ignored the war, the economy, all the things Bush has failed in.
If say McCain was in the whitehouse, your country would be so much better off.

that is how it always goes. the depression was caused by an over abundance of greatness and then one hell of a recession. what I learned in economics anyway. thats why Alan Greenspan keeps the balance on that ****. Its been argued that he has technically more power then a president because his decision is final.
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 02:24 PM You're right sir, the actual executive powers have been reduced to: Being commander in chief of the armed forces and being the poster boy for the US. Every since the Nixon era the job description of the President of the United States of America has been getting shorter and shorter.

Squezze 11-03-2004, 02:45 PM It amazes me how people in general fail to understand simple politics. Of course John Kerry said he was for gay marriage. Any knob knows that a good way to get votes is to side with the people who are against who you're running against, even if you don't agree with it.
Politicians are liars and bull****ters, and it really dosen't matter who is in office, cause they're all the same. Democrat, republican it dosen't matter. Deep down they're all the same. The only time the US will ever see a significant change in the way the country is run is when/if a minority gets elected, or a woman gets elected.
You ****ers should have elected Jesse Jackson when you had the chance.
nickeboy 11-03-2004, 02:49 PM Poll: Who will be elected 1st as a President in the U.S.?
1. African American
2. A Woman
Mr. Beelzebub 11-03-2004, 02:51 PM neither. It is almost a given that Hillary Clinton is gonna run in 2008, but I doubt she'll win. The African American community doesn't really have a strong leader.
Maybe in a couple of decades.

But if you had to make an educated guess...who would you think?
nance 11-03-2004, 03:00 PM Just for the record guys, the stem cell research prop in Cali passed. Money will be handed out to universities and private companies to do the research at the tune of $3 billion dollars a year.
http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20041103-102006-6582r.htm
Who will benifit from this? The sick, provided they find treatments and cures. To which I have no problem with. Who else? The pharmacuetical companies who will be making billions in profit based on the research that we pay for with tax dollars. I say they should be putting forth their own dollars and give all the monies to the universities.
nance 11-03-2004, 03:08 PM From a children's book...to which most of you could learn from.
"If you are like most people, you might find that when you disagree with someone, you have all kinds of uncomfortable feelings.
"Disagreeing with someone might make you feel insecure. Feeling insecure means being afraid something bad might happen to you.
"It might also make you feel inferior. Feeling inferior means feeling as if you're not as smart or as good as the person you disagree with.
"Disagreeing with someone might make you feel unsure of yourself and what you think.
"It might also make you feel frustrated."
Wilt went on to say that before you could handle disagreements wisely, there were some things you needed to know.
"It's okay to disagree with people.
"People who disagree with other people are not strange or bad.
"When most people disagree with a person's ideas, that doesn't mean the person's ideas are stupid or unimportant.
"When two people disagree, that doesn't always mean one person is right and the other person is wrong. It's possible for both people to be right. It's also possible for both people to be wrong.
"Not all disagreements have to end with both people agreeing.
"When people disagree, it doesn't mean they are angry with each other or they don't like each other. People can disagree and still love, respect, and trust each other."
Squezze 11-03-2004, 03:08 PM Also, in defence of Creed, I think he has every right to be critical of the US and it's system, and also he has the right to be opinionated on American matters.
Fact of the matter is, the US is really the only "superpower" left in the world, which we as Canadians share a large border with. It should concern us greatly who the president of the US is. The world should be concerned with it, actually.
I mean, it's not like we're talking about Portugese elections or anything.....
