thats ok. its getting 5 stars from alot of people online. i'd say the general consensus says this is hot.....even gold mac called it crack, and hes not the biggest jay-z fan.

I'm a Jay-Z fan; he's one of my favorite half dozen rap catalogs out there...

...just think releasing this as a stand-alone single is against what he should stand for.

Eminem should have put out an anti-Autotune song. Or an older cat like KRS-One or Chuck D.

Jay's the guy on songs like "Swagga Like Us" and the guy doing duets with Rihanna and Beyonce. He doesn't get to put people down for selling out. He lost that card with the Heineken commercials and the "Dangerously in Love" video

LOL it doesn't bother me, just people were offering their opinions in this particular thread, so I offered mine.

Hell, hypocrisy doesn't really bother me. Read my post in the age thread.

I also regard the greatest rapper of all time as the same guy who put "Keep Ya Head Up" on the same album as "I Get Around"...doesn't get more hypocritical than that

jay-z is a hypocrite but what rapper isnt? I dont think he really cares that much about this auto-tune stuff, my guess is that he wants to be able to say that hes responsible for ending it, when in reality it was already starting to die out. Does this bother me? Not at all, I kind of agree with Neils...its like the way Nas made "hip hop is dead"...he wasnt the first to say that, people have actually been saying that for years even prior to the release of hip hop is dead.

As for the song, i like it...definitely worth downloading. Its not as good as i see some people over at sohh saying it is, but i dont think its deserving of any hate either. I think Jay stepped it up lyrically on this, still not to the level that hes capable of but he used multi's throughout much of this. I like it more then his 2 singles from AG (blue magic and roc boys).

Heres an interesting post from sohh...and i consider sunzoo to be the goat when it comes to rap opinions. This is from a thread titled "Thank GOD Nas didnt make death of autotune"

if nas made it...i'd actually respect it

i will argue *****s tooth and nail, about me prefering jay over nas, that's not a secret, and i love both artists

but i don't respect this DOA sh1t, from jay....for two reasons:

1. this is after he's removed auto tune, from his upcoming album

2. it seems like...well according to *****s on here that jay is saying, it's ok for wayne, and kayne/t-pain to use it....but nobody else, who in the fucck gave him the authority to judge when it's being applied artistically, and when it's not? seems more like he's saying...auto tune is dead...unless you're my friend

this ***** is even putting an "auto tuner" on his first single

the beat is cool, lyrics are decent...but the whole premise of the record, is some bullsh1t, and it's wack for jay to be criticizing a trend that he was just about to jump on himself it seems, just so he can take credit for the downfall of it, now that it's already played out

i don't even like auto-tune, but i hope *****s keep using it, just so this whole "trend setter" tricknology doesn't get over

Kobe Bryant
06-08-2009, 05:47 PM
Yeah I kind of see it how that quote Gold Mac posted.

Jay has been a very influential artist no doubt. A lot of it bad because artists jocking his style have made the game somewhat lack creativeness. A lot of it good because he's put out really good to great music through the years.

But my main point is that it seems like he's trying to recreate another trend with this dissing of auto tune. And it makes it come off like he's the guy who sets the precedence of what's cool and what isn't.

And he's been on tracks with auto tune in them so it seems a little hypocritical.

I think the other songs will be better though. Blue Magic is more of a street single and it was hard. To me this joint doesn't really knock like a street joint.

Just to further clarify things, I still like this song...i just found that quote interesting, coming from someone whos a big jay-z fan and considers him to be better then nas, who he is also a big fan of. And i consider this poster to be unbiased, and one of the smartest if not the smartest hip hop fan i have seen on the internet. I dont agree with everything he says, but he looks at things from all angles and thats what i respect from any poster.

I consider it hypocritical for jay-z to make this song, but that doesnt change the fact that its better then what hes been putting out...to be honest, i dont like it as much as i did the first 4 or 5 times i heard it but i still think its better then jockin jay-z and brooklyn we go hard. For some reason, jay has failed to keep me interested since AG came out. Its not hating on him, i give him his credit where its due...AG is 4.5/5 in my opinion, i cant pin point what it is but since that album came out i cant seem to really get into his new songs. I just listened to it in my car on the way to school. I like it alot, unless your a fan of the auto tune, the kanye west style of a rapper....not sure why you wouldnt' like it.

The beat is infectious, Jay-Z has that classic flow. Its not a lyrical song, but it is not suppose to be. Its more of a message song. I could find a reason to be dissapointed in BK go hard, Jockin' Jay-Z, History etc. I can't find a reason to be dissapointed with this song. To me Jay-Z delivered for what it was. Its not the best jay-z song i've heard, but nobody promised the best jay-z song of all time. Its a hot song, as long as the BP3 is hot, I'm happy. I don't need a classic, Jay-Z has already proven himself since 1996. Everything from this point out is icing on the cake.

As far as the hypocrite thing, I'm a hypocrite. Everyone in my family is hypocrites, including my relatives. lol its hard not to by hypocritical at times...

how many times have i said people need to respect other peoples opinions, and then I've gotten angry? thats hypocritical right there...lol

and then i could start going after other rappers with hypocritical lines in songs....but i'm not going to go there.
