Because ultimately I feel smaller weight classes consistantly produce better fighters. That and Heavyweights get all the attention anyway so to me p4p is a way for the smaller guys to get their props. Tua was a damn good fighter......when he was in shape and motivated. Unfortunately that wasn't often enough. BTW, I did a thread where I posted ATG lists for all old-school 8 weight classes. Here's the link: http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=247307&highlight=lists&page=5 Poet detartrated 06-06-2009, 12:42 AM Mine are (and I recently bought dvds of these sluggers): in no particular order: Azumah "The Professor" Nelson Pernell "Sweat Pea" Whitaker Wilfredo "Bazooka" Gomez Salvador "Chava" Sanchez Carlos "Escopeta" Monzon (but i'm changing this to Kostya Tszyu, until I see an actual fight of his) Aaron "Hawk" Pryor Muhammad Ali (hello?) Arguella is bubbling under as is Charles, Whitaker etc. RJJ I left off purely because he is still active to a point and so the story hasn't been fully told. Very personal things these lists, but no Greb? And why is Pep so low? Not arguing your list as opinion is personal, just especially interested as to why Pep so low? 1SILVA 06-07-2009, 09:01 PM tell me who are your top 10 fighters of all time! in order! holla! ali robinson armstrong louis duran arguello pryor monzon moore greb Richie-G 06-08-2009, 05:10 PM 1. Sugar Ray Robinson- The greatest, no-one can compare to him 2. Muhammad Ali- The greatest heavyweight, would have beaten any other heavyweight in any era, bar maybe Louis. 3. Willie Pep- The greatest defensive fighter of all time 4. Henry Armstrong- Only man to hold titles in 3 weight divisions ever, defeated 15 champions in an 18 year career. 5. Joe Louis- Great fighter, in my opinion the only heavyweight who can come close to Ali. 6. Benny Leonard- the smartest fighter who ever lived. 7. Harry Greb - Great fighter, fought 299 bouts, more than corbett, j jeffries, gene tunney, louis, marciano and ali combined, only man to beat gene tunney, fought heavyweights when he was a middleweight. 8. Gene Tunney- Beat Greats such as dempsey and greb, only losing once. 9. Jack Johnson - fought and knocked out some of the greatest champions, including Jim Jeffries, Stanley Ketchel, Philadelphia Jack O'Brian, Joe Jeanette, Sam Langford, the list goes on.... 10. Sugar Ray Leonard - I put him in here reluctantly, but he beat the greats of the modern era and was simply the best in his time, beating Benitez, Hearns, Duran and Hagler. |
