View Full Version : Most Disgraceful Champ ever? Why?
Colonel Jones 11-16-2004, 08:20 PM Bruce Seldon (Yes he was actually champion once) is my vote for most disgraceful champ. Case & Point- After being petrified to be in the ring with Tyson he went down with what was obviously a missed punch, and had the nerve to say that Tyson hit so hard that when he missed you it still hurt? Ridiculous
Dishonarable mention: Tyson- what can you say, he eats people?
Ineligible for Top spot due to never winning Title:
Tony Ayala, whose picture is in every thesarus and dictionary next to the words "useless-existence"
trinidadpr87 11-16-2004, 08:23 PM Oliver Mccall Even Though He Beat Lennox The First Time The Second Time He Started Crying.most Disgraceful Champ. You Have To Fight Back Man.
neils7147933 11-16-2004, 08:27 PM How do you define champ? One of the big "3"? Big "4"?
How about this guy - he's now the NABC champ after outpointing Evander Holyfield on Saturday night:

YEAH BUT THAT AINT A MAJOR TITLE SELDON AN MCCALL HELD MAJOR TITLES.
TheGreat1 11-16-2004, 08:33 PM thats is pretty sad, but didn't Bryd get his belt by out pointing Holy
neils7147933 11-16-2004, 08:36 PM thats is pretty sad, but didn't Bryd get his belt by out pointing Holy
yeah, a vacant title. Lennox didn't want to fight Byrd so he gave up his belt.
Derrick Gainer.
He was so terrified of the man in front of him (Juan Manuel Marquez) that he mistook his title defense as a trackfest. His shoes were "smoking" running around the ring.
Duncan 11-16-2004, 08:46 PM Bruce Seldon was pretty bad. Ruiz is worse. But overall, McCall lost his title by crying in the ring....crying like a little baby. That is (but barely) worse than just being Johnny Louise-Ruiz.
I saw that fight too, but why did McCall cry anyway? that was bizarre.

LENNOX LEWIS WAS IN FRONT OF HIM JUST KIDDING.SOMETHING PROBABLY HAPPENED IN THE FAMILY.THATS MY GUESS.

I think part of it had to do with his crack addiction that promoter Don King was well aware of because he got him out of rehab no more than a week prior
jack_the_rippuh 11-16-2004, 10:34 PM Jack Dempsey....racist..
The Fix 11-16-2004, 10:55 PM riddick bowe. how can you take a major title like that and just throw it away. fighters fight for thier entire career for a chance at something like that and to throw it away,on public tv, is just disrespectfull.
Jack Dempsey....racist..
Agree that Jack D. was a racist.
Does that make him the most disgraceful Champ ever? Or, was it that he was a Champ who actually spoke his mind, no matter how simple that mind might have been, that makes him a disgrace to the sport.
Racism is ugly, but it's not the property of Dempsey. If fact, I don't think he even invented it.
Your right, you can't have grace and racism in the same body, so I agree with you Rippuh. But, most disgraceful ever? That "race" response won't work in every situation.
Foreman 11-16-2004, 11:34 PM Can't fault McCall. He was having a mental or nervous breakdown, something which we are all capable of, given the right(or wrong) circumstances. He wasn't afraid of Lewis, Lewis couldn't hurt him with a bat.
Seldon is a disgrace. Even if he knew he couldn't win, he got paid a lot of money. Take a shot you puss.
Ruiz is lousy. What he does in the ring is not boxing or prizefighting by any stretch of the imagination. Where's Tua when he is really needed?
Really, there are too many to list. Golota's effort against Ruiz was pathetic, as was Sanders against Vitali. Among others. Don't these turds realize they are fighting for the or a portion of THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD. THE most important and greatest title in the world. McCline runs out of gas against a light hitter within 12 rounds? Glad he didn't fight in the era of 15 rounders.

TheFairPole 11-17-2004, 07:36 AM Any champ who is willing to give up his title by refusing to fight the #1 contender!!! That is total disrespect to the entire sport!!!

Oliver's in trouble again:
from BOXING NEWS ALL DAY bookmark:
OLIVER MCCALL BACK IN JAIL
It didn't turn out to be a very good week for former heavyweight champion Oliver McCall. Two days after losing a unanimous decision to DaVaryll "Touch of Sleep" Williamson in NYC's famed Madison Square Garden, McCall was arrested late Monday night for "criminal mischief", according to an anonymous tip received by **********.
McCall allegedly flipped out and trashed a hotel room at Hotel Pennsylvania, with blood stains left behind, though it has yet to be confirmed if the blood is in fact McCall's.
If charges are true, it wouldn't be the first time that McCall was involved in a hotel incident: In 1996, he was arrested for being intoxicated and throwing a Christmas tree at a downtown Nashville hotel where he was staying. Charges were later dismissed in that case, and he went on to the all-too infamous "in-the-ring breakdown" in his rematch against Lennox Lewis in February 1997.
Calls to the NYPD, Hotel Pennsylvania to confirm charges have yet to be returned as of press time, and manager Jimmy Adams declined to comment for the moment.
jabsRstiff 11-17-2004, 08:33 AM Seldon is a pretty good choice, because what he did with Tyson was pure robbery.
He went down on purpose.....collected his 5 million, all on the backs of those in attendance & those who shelled out PPV $$$.
But.....RUIZ.....has been involved in a series of disgusting fights.
He's the turd people look at & decide boxing is a circus sport.

Or you can fight and destroy every #1 like Roy Jones did and still get no respect because people claim the #1's were not the best fighters at the time. You can't win either way.
