Some of you guys might have saw that EA has announced that they will be starting a new sports franchise EA MMA.

However with THQ and UFC having a deal I don't think they can succeed. They will be the no frill version with very few popular fighters. I'm thinking the Blitz version of MMA where it doesn't have the name recognition to compete.

yeah, it will fail, fans care about UFC, not MMA.....we will see peter moore's sorry ass when this game flops.....this game will sell only to the MMA heads if its got Fedor....

that will be the only draw, it ABSOLUTELY will have Fedor, and, yeah, it will still fail.

I say it might be kinda like Blitz or NFL Legends (They had retired players. I can see them using guys like Royce Gracie, Dan Frye, Randal Coleman, Ken Shamrock...etc The guys who are retired or have not fought in UFC.

Even then I can't see it really appealing to the masses since the most popular fighters are those marketed by UFC themselves.

To me THQ having the UFC license is equivalent to EA having the NFL license. No competition can truly exist with these exclusives.

It will probably play better than the THQ UFC game though:cool2:
This game might have some upper body movement !

Reminds of PES vs Fifa 09. Lisence's vs Unlisenced.

Thats the whole thing. There are very few mainstream fighters that are not in UFC.

Randy
Fedor
Gracie
Shamrocks

However there are a bunch of great fighters that long time and hardcore MMA fans would appreciate but I don't think it would be mainstream enough to really get a significant foothold.

Fighters like
Randle Coleman
Dan Severene
Josh Burnett
Gomi
Sakuraba
Bob Sapp
Jeremy Horn
Robbie Lawler
Kazushi Sakuraba
Bas Rutten (sp?)

Interesting stuff but all in all I see it being an NFL Legends or Blitz type of competitor.

You need fresh faces to sell this thing, meaning they'll need to travel everywhere for lisences. On top of that, they've no grappling system. It took THQ several years to develop the system they have so far.. EA wants this out by 2010. Ain't no way they'r going to have a balaced system laid out.

Are you sure they cant? Look at how the robbed NBA2k for its dribble system, tricked it out, made it WAY better, and killed the NBA2k franchise. Took Tony Hawk's idea of using the sticks for tricks... need I say, Skate killed the **** out of Tony Hawk?

They will take UFC's ground game, make that **** waaaaaaaay better and ruin THQ's attempt of making UFC games. Why? Because THQ will end up doing what they did with WWE. Same **** over and over.

There are alot more fighters outside of UFC. If they took FN to the level it is today, then image what they do with overall fighting? :boxing:
