Flags won second...only because we don't have the whole show done, but we should this next week!!!

what is flags

Its when insted of tackling you go for the flag.

Duke Nukem was a good ol' school game.

Pageantry is the correct term. While the band marches on the field, there are a group of girls that dance and march around the field with flags on six foot poles. I'll post some pics as soon as I get my CD's back from the website person. They have choreography that goes along with the music and they are the biggest part of the visual in these types of competitions. The band makes "pictures" on the field and they play the music at the same time.

This year's theme is "Nightmare Before Xmas" and Beetlejuice.

The first flag is really cool looking. It's the mountian from Nightmare in Neon Green on a Silver moon with the night sky being purple. The last flag is checkered with a neon stripe thru it (not finished yet, busy sewing...lol) I have 25 costumes to make for this weekend's show up in Etiwanda. I sure hope I can get them all done in time.

We have one boy on the team and he will be Jack during the first number and the girls will be Sally. During the second song, they go behind these big backdrops that the kids made and strip off the first costume to the second one underneath and the boy changes jackets and becomes Beetlejuice. It's a really cool show so far and when we have all the costumes, props and backdrops done, it's gonna be so totally awesome!!

This is my second to last year, so I'm having fun. Next year daughter will be a senior, and the parents "graduate" with their kids and aren't allowed back in. :-(

One more from Sat. night. This was the best one because most of the flags are in sync. They are all supposed to be together unless the choreography calls for difference and when it does, it's usually in groups.

We watched the video and watched the other team's flags....awful. They were almost never together whereas we were for the most part. Oh well, they learn more moves this week. Next comp is this Sat. Then off for two weeks...yay,,,,I can breathe.
