Just an update on my son for those of you who are interested.
He started out the year just like in past years. Right away didn't do the work, put off the hw, lied to me and his teachers. I called a meeting.
This time I told the teachers and admin. what I wanted. I used to ask nicely.
This time, I got it. So far that is. I have to stay on top of them to stay on top of my son. If they show that they care, he'll care. If we all keep in contact with each other, he can't get away with it all. It's starting to show.
Son decided to push me so I went to his Master Sergeant for ROTC. hehe
He had a little chat with Son.....Son was mad at me. So I said, do the hw, go to the tutoring or I go back to school as a freshman. That did it. The look on his face was priceless.
He is NOT failing English for the first time in many years. He has a C-. The only class he is failing is Science. Because the teacher doesn't seem to care, or that's how Son sees it. Hubby and I asked him to show a little more attention to him and that should do the trick, that and tutoring which was ordered by his Master Sergeant.
It also has helped that they gave him an AlphaSmart. A portable keyboard that he can do all of his notes and assignments on, plug into the computer and download it and print it. It works great!! ADHD kids get lost while taking notes from the board, up/down, up/down.....and most give up, hence, fail.
I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can see him doing good, not just for us, but for himself. Now we just have to survive the court ordeal. The better grades will help.
