I'm sick of heavyweights today being modest and lacking any

attitude or personality. I've seen and heard from Byrd and vitali

and it lacks any of the characterics of Ali, Foreman, and Tyson

with respect to charisma, attitude,or arrogance. When Ali fought

his oppenents he talked trash, made fun of, disrespected, and

even predicted when he would knock them out. Tyson was known to

talk trash about his oppenents and even start fights at the press

conferences. Vitali talks about how good a fighter williams is

and how it will be a tough fight. Chris Byrd is buddies with his

oppenents! Enough already, why can't heavyweight fighters today

talk about how weak their opponents are and how they are gonna

whoop them so bad their grandparents in Ukraine will feel it!

What the division needs is a fighter who is witty, and trashes

his opponents in and out of the ring. What are your opinions?

I think Byrd and Vitali do act like champs(lets forget Ruiz, cause he's a titlest not a champion) they are well spoken, bright, good sportsman, good role models and are fierce compeitors.

No I was offended by your treatement of Byrd as well. Ruiz is just a whiney *****, so he doesn't count.

I saw Chris Byrd being interviewed before toney's last fight and all due respect, he was boring and uninteresting. He got great
speed and skills know all he has to do is just study Ali when he was outside the ring.

This is where you and I differ, I respect your opinion on wanting champions who are ****y and arrogant, and it is refreshing to see them every once in awhile, but I prefer classy "boring" champions. ;)

I respect your opinion but I think the majority of active and
passive boxing fans prefer arrogant, charismatic, and ****y fighters like ali. Maybe i should just get over that there will never be a fighter like muhammad ali again! :(

I think that an arrogant champion would draw more attention to the sport and increase its popularity.

Oh and don't never say never, who knows, it could happen. :)

Jesuschristo, I wish I could share your optimistim. If and when Byrd and
ruiz meet, I hope byrd steps up and knocks ruiz out. He surely has the skills and would be making a loud statement if he could knock ruiz out
because trust me no one on this forum wants to see another lackluster heavyweight championship bout.

What it needs is LESS TALKING MORE FIGHTING.

I actually cheered aloud when Rahman said he would stay in the ring and fight one of the champs. I agree we need that, not, "How did your fight go, champ?" "I do the good and my brother and I will be champions at the same time as well."

and if Rahman wins another belt, and he can, he'll talk even more trash, which will raise the profile of the sport among the average fan

fans love to hear the big dogs talk trash, that's not necessarily a good thing... People love Mike Tyson because he talks trash, bites ears, says < " i'm gonna eat lennox's children ", etc. i think the key factor, is can you back that **** up, if u can the fans love u

I am completely shocked. At last we have two decent guys Vitali and Chris rule the division! And... there goes you who wants some dorky trash-talkers instead of these decent guys?

I just dont understand this.

I would just love vitali to say; he's gonna bury williams and not
how hard the fight will be. What we need is a terrel owens of
boxing; some one who talks the talk, and walks the walk!

James Toney is bravado and a half. Hasim Rahman is ****y, but why? He hasn't looked good against top tier opposition since the first Lewis fight.

Exactly...fans love a guy who wins a few nice matches and a belt and starts talking all sorts of ****...and the gets KTFO. It makes the whole good guy bad guy thing a lot better. A good example is Antonio Tarver...he's very confident right now and has a mouth on him and the general consensus from fight fans is that they want to see this guy handed his ass. But he's still better for the sport in a way that Byrd and Vitali aren't.
