We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone

Anywayz, Nickeboy9 told me a story about his best friend this morning. Apparantly a kid speeding on a Ninja slammed into the side of his company van. He says he(nick's friend) was switching lanes when he got hit. The guy totalled the side of the van. It's a safe bet the guy was going really fast.

So the guy went flying 30ft or what not and may be dead. Nick's friend isn't sure, but he's afraid the guy died on the scene. Nick's friend is now traumatized by this event and feeling all guilty n' ****.

The question is, should Nick's friend feel guilty/traumatized about something that wasn't his fault. I know I wouldn't. I'd be pissed the guy decided to total my car before killing himself.

They didn't mention speeding at all. If they guy wasn't speeding, then yeah, I'd feel really bad.

It seems as if it was truly an accident. The investigation will have to determine which driver was at fault. If the motorcycle driver was speeding and wasn't in the right spot in the lane, it's hard to see them, especially if they are in the blind spot of a van. I've nearly hit a motorcyclist before. Not all drive with the care that they should. They need to make themselve visible.

I feel bad for the van driver.

Yeah, I noticed it too. It made me chuckle, before I read the story. Then I felt bad for Nick's bud. His bud think's the guy was speeding so if he was than there will be no problem.

im not going to get too into this, being an avid motorcyclist, but i will say this... On at least 5 occasions this past summer alone, i was minding my business traveling with the flow of traffic, and found myself 2 wheeling on the grass on the side of the highway, thanks to what is likely soccer moms in their minivans who for some reason refuse to check their blind spot or look to the left when moving to the left lane.

Funny thing...i feel safer doing 90mph sometimes so i can just zip by them and not get pushed off the road. Yes, not all drive with the care they should, but most do. It works both ways. Brite colors are relatively pointless if no one pays attention to the road and traffic around them. If highbeams and bright yellow helmets aren't enough to be seen, i don't know what is. Perhaps a better remedy is like my favorite bumper sticker says.. "LOOK TWICE, SAVE A LIFE. MOTORCYCLES ARE EVERYWHERE."

General, I agree with you. It doesn't really come down to what your driving, it comes down to HOW you're driving. I drive a minivan and I check my blind spot constantly, simply because I don't trust other drivers. We must all be driving defensively at all times. Just to keep us and others safe.

I'm sorry if I came off offending. It wasn't my intention. I've driven a motorcycle before and have a friend who does. I guess I just have a problem out here because we have lane sharing and most motorcyclists that I have come across do NOT follow the rules on that. Scary as hell for car/van drivers when they don't.
