However there is hope to bring back some glamour. I have been saying it since Vitali took over. We now have a champion who is big, good looking, well spoken, makes exciting fights and is WHITE!!. to quote Ali "Nothing makes alot of green like a little white" The public seems to really like Vitali and he gets great numbers in attendance and TV ratings. I think he has a chnace to become that crossover star in the heavyweight division that boxing needs. Not because he is great but because of the reasons I have listed. wmute 09-25-2004, 05:54 PM There is no hope in sight for the heavyweight division in terms of a fighter being great and taking over. I agree, (except I never find HW fights exciting :) ) , he might be really good to promote the sport, neils7147933 09-25-2004, 07:00 PM We got us a white guy but no one can understand his English. It's like a scene out of the movie "Bedazzled" Joe Mesi was a great white hope. The Klitschkos and Golota are still not viewed by the white viewer as "one of us". At least to me and a few other guys I know that watch boxing. ghostbear 09-25-2004, 09:38 PM Maybe Vitali will learn to speak english since he lives in L.A. now. burnerdafck 04-27-2010, 11:41 PM chris arreolla................. daggum 04-27-2010, 11:55 PM tye fields but of course. |
