Sasha Lakovic, who was known as one of the toughest guys in hockey will be fighting in MMA. Lakovic played the Russian captian in the movie "Miracle". There was an article about his upcoming fight in the “TOTAL COMBAT CHALLENGE” taking place on October 2nd at The Plaza of Nations in Vancouver, British Columbia.

"Top fighters from Muay Thai, kickboxing and full-contact Wushu styles will be congregating upon Vancouver, Canada to witness history in the making with the first-ever Sanshou Mixed martial arts tournament. Total Combat Challenge pits top Sanshou martial artists from China's elite police force against some of North America’s best. This event will host a heavy weight bout between local celebrity Vancouverite Sasha “The Pit bull” Lakovic and Trail’s Gavin ”Snacks” Neil. Lakovic’s appearance in the ring has been much anticipated. This fight against the experienced Neil from Pride Gym promises to deliver a spectacle not seen in Vancouver to date.

With a warrior's spirit rivaled by none, "The Pitbull" will bring an intense level of entertainment to the Total Combat Challenge. He holds a 6th degreemaster level in the Canadian Confederation of Wushu Organizations. Lakovic is best known as an enforcer in the NHL for the Calgary Flames, the New Jersey Devils and a local stint with the old Vancouver Voodoo. Opposite Kurt Russell, Sasha played the role of "Boris Mikhailov", Captain ofthe Russian National Hockey team in the Disney movie "MIRACLE". He will, also, debut in the postponed but up and coming pay-per-view event HOCKEY GLADIATORS. His reputation as both fighter and personality promises to deliver a crowd-pleasing performance."

Lakovic was pretty tough. One of the toughest guys in the NHL? Don't think so.

This isn't actual MMA. It's more of a kickboxing tournament from what I have learned talking to guys that train with Sasha.
