Just wondered if any of you guys are wrestling fans? I must admit I am quite a big fan although the WWE at present is pretty ****, so I tend to check out Japanese stuff.

I used to like professional wrestling in the old days. I hate it now.

Colegiat and olympic wrestling is great and Sumo Wrestling kicks ass.

It would be good if not for the overacting gimmicks.

I lived for Wrestling when I was a kid, but now I think it sucks. I was into it when guys like Ricky the Dragon, Macho Man, Brittish Bulldogs and Rowdy Roddy Piper were the ****. Hulk Hogan was my favorite back when he was a "Real American".

I must admit I hate all the stupid gimmicks. That's why I prefer the Japanese stuff as there are less gimmicks and has the feel of a proper athletic contest.

Hell yeah. The early days of the WWF when Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura were the hosts was great!

When I was a kid the big names were Dusty Rhodes, Andre the Giant, Harley Race, Superstar Billy Graham, Ivan Koloff, Ric Flair, George 'the animal' Steel, Bob Backlund, Bruno Samartino, The Sheik, etc.

I've watched it ever since I was a baby and no matter how ****ty raw is now, I still watch it due to the fact that I had watched the first episode and havent missed one since....Name another thing to watch on Monday Nights????

Monday nights have always been raw since 93 and I havent gotten hooked on anything else at 9pm.

WWF is still pretty **** right now, wrestling goes through transitional periods and the business is on the quake of a major shakeup....

Recently I have been hooked into nwa-tna though, I cant stand the 6 sided ring but the talent their is amazing and with the signings of a lot of the older wrestlers and the recently released ones from wwe along with the monthly ppvs and possibly getting a prime time slot on fx, I see them blowing up within the next couple of years.....

Their product has came a looooong way and before I despised it and now im loving it....It definatetly surpasses the wwf product at the moment.

With savage/piper/possibly hogan?/Billy Gunn coming in has me pumped up, Im anxiously awaiting a feud between hogan and jarrett as well as seeing a possible reunion w/ the new age outlaws....

Ohh yeah did I mention nash and hall are back....

Nostalgia is great.

TNA started on Wednesday PPVs and used a 4-sided ring. I recommend picking up some DVDs from their website or downloading some matches off file-sharing sites. Pretty much anything with X-Division on it - Red, Sonjay Dutt, Frankie Kazarian, AJ Styles, Teddy Hart, Jason Cross

What else to watch on Monday Nights? - ESPN Classic shows Classic Fights on Mondays.

The espn classic library is already in my library, I can only watch ali vs frazier and those short clipped tyson fights so many times....

Besides all boxing is already programmed to record on my DVR :)

Espn needs to expand their library badly.

I didnt know espn classic showed fights on mondays, I thought it was tuesdays/thursdays...They flipped flopped the times.

The X-division is ok, I like Styles and cant wait for him to get a push further up in the ranks....

I watched it for a while on their ppv shows when they first started out it was kind of lackluster but they have really came along and built themselves up.

I cant think of a better wrestling product right now other than TNA.....

AJ styles was already NWA champion once.

He needs another push, he probably has the most talent on the whole roster....

I have a sour mouth for Jeff Hardy and would like to see some other major players get involved.

I also like the fact that NWA puts the belts on the champs *coughjarrett*cough for a long time and doesnt do switches every week or so.....

Just a tidbit, Have you read where Jerry Jarrett, Jeffs dad is trying to knock him out of his power hungry ways and bring in Hogan to do booking and such?????

Craziness, Forgetting his wwf days I think Jarrett makes an awesome heel and a great champ at the moment....

neils7147933

Jarrett is the Triple-H of TNA and has probably hurt the company from emerging further. Ron Killings and AJ Styles have had brief reigns, but it's Jarrett's company.

I really thought Raven would beat him in April 03 after the immense push he was getting. Chris Harris would make a suitable champion, too.

TNA was the first time I saw Tenacious Z (Zach Gowen), Kenzo Suzuki, and Jimmy Yang (I can't remember what WWE calls him) before Vince signed them and buried them.

Been a pro wrestling fan for about 20 years. Kinda lost interest in the current WWE product because they just aren't doing anything new including their continous failure to make new stars. They have botched everyone from Benoit, Jericho, Angle, etc to the point of no return.

Haven't been a big fan of TNA but their last PPV was awesome.

Been a pro wrestling fan, too, for as long as I can remember. Today's wrestling is more talking, acrobatics and too obvious (and very boring) play-acting. So I kinda stopped watching them now. The 80's was the golden year - the young Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Andre the Giant, Dusty Rhodes, Bob Buckland, Tito Santana, Ultimate Warrior, etc. were far more colorful and exciting!

Hey guys not even half of the pro wrestlers have used steroids.

Depends on how you look at it. I doubt very many guys on the independents use them because of two reasons a) they can't afford them and b) most indy wrestlers are skinny and pale.

When you look at guys in WWE and TNA as well as Japan (I speak to a guy who has worked for the WWF, WCW and did tours of Japan who admitted he regularly took steroid supplies to Japan for their wrestlers), I'd go out on a limb and say something in the region of 75-85% of the wrestlers are on juice. Even small guys who have no business using them like Rey Misterio are using them.

Out of everyone who has denied using steroids, I have only ever believed one man and that was Lance Storm. His body looks about as natural as you can get when you have a wrestler's full time schedule. If anyone has a bigger body than him then they are problem on steroids.

And guys like Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero have bulked up far bigger than they were 4 years ago when they are natually small guys. Plus huge acne spots are a dead giveaway on anyone.

I ran across this and that it was interesting, but probably didn't warrant its own thread so I tacked it on here:

From W365 Newsletter:

Based on reports out of New Zealand it would appear that Randy Orton is
going to be on the cover on Gay Express Magazine, which I'm sure he is
not happy about, but I guess that's what they call karma... The cover
will feature a title of "Feeling Randy? - Is the WWE courting gay fans?"
with a full page article inside on the subject that includes an
interview with Findlay Martin of Power Slam Magazine, with pictures of
Orton, John Cena, Mark Jindrak, Rene Dupree and Shelton Benjamin.

Anybody who subscribes to that magazine feel free to tell us how it turns out.
