No I am not suggesting they fight.

What I am asking is at this moment has Machida reached the level where you can't imagine him being beat by anyone currently fighting?

If you feel he can be beaten, what style/strategy would you suggest someone using to accomplish this?

**** No!!

Let the guy get a couple more wins under his belt. So far his biggest wins are just Evans, Thiago and Tito Ortiz.

You forget Penn, Franklin & Soko.

But to answer the question. No he hasn't reached the level of Fedor. When he has a 6 year reign at the top of his division then he would have reached that level. He still has a load of contenders and big fights to get in his career, Rampage, Shogun among others. But at the moment I can't see anyone beating him at 205. He outwrestles the wrestlers, outstrikes the strikers, and other than a minor slip up against Ortiz hasn't shown any weaknesses in his submission game. And all this without taking little to know damage on his person. The day someone is able to match him in there will be a very interesting fight indeed simply because I'm at a loss at figuring out which fighter can make him look bad let alone beat him outright.

Machida has yet to be tested. Properly.

He needs to fight near enough every style. Fedor doesn't have a weakness against styles.

If Machida can remain champion for the next 5 years or after facing 20+ opponents who are all ranked as some of the best in the division. Then yes.

That's going a bit far. Not even Fedor faced that many ranked guys during his reign. I mean other than Nog, Herring, Crocop, Arlovski & Sylvia, the rest of the guys he fought during his reign weren't the best in the division. I mean Coleman the first time was just outside the top 10, but Nagata, Goodridge, Zulu, Ogawa among others were not even ranked.

Ok, maybe 20 is too much.

Seeing as he'd fight once in a blue moon.

But he needs to prove himself against quality fighters.

Yeah, a win over a fat BJ is oh so great.

And an overrated Soko.

Not at the moment and I wish these stupid comparisons would stop.

When Machida cleans out the LHW division like Fedor did to the HW division and rules it with an iron fist for 5+ years then we can start comparing the two.

Until then, Machida has done very little to deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Fedor. What happens if Machida loses his first title defense? Does he get Rashad'd back to overrated?

The Penn fight I'll give ya that one even though he was P4P the best at the time, but Soko was coming off of 2 KOs over Arona and Nog so to say he was overrated when Machida fought him is not true. Machida just made him look bad, much like every other guy that has been in there with him.
