Yes there is. A UFC champ cannot fight outside the UFC without the permission of the UFC. If he is the champ and his contract expires it is automatically extended for 1 year or 3 fights.

I heard about it before but I couldnt find that clause anywhere. Hockeyfighter did not respond to my post asking where is the source he found the info from. I am curious, does anyone know. Thanks.

It's from insidefighting. I looked for the article again but I can't find it on there page. It was posted a few days ago there. It talked about the difference between a fight contract and a promotional contract or something and basically stated all the NSAC rules dealing with title holders and fighting for other organizations. It was pretty well done. I wish I could find it again. Good read.

That's it there

The line in question is this.
"The Extension Term clause basically states that if a fighter is a UFC champion at the time that the Promotional Agreement expires, then the Promotional Agreement “shall be automatically extended” for 1 year or 3 more fights, which ever occurs first."

I should have clarified that the UFC says you can't fight outside the UFC but the NSAC says he can ................. well just read the damn article and then you will know and I don't have to tell you.
