View Full Version : Question= what is the best mma fight?
dchampishere 05-26-2009, 02:22 PM not really a fan but i lived in vegas for 7 years and have been to almost every mma fight in that time in vegas. from the ufc to the fights at the orleans hotel put on by john lewis (super close friend) to the grapplers quest, mainly because i trained alot of mma fighters in striking (and because of all the fine honeys that go to the fights!). but the truth is never Really watched the fights (unless they were striking or one of my guys was fighting). so my question is what is or are the best fights that i can watch and say damn that was a good f**king fight
jakkups 05-26-2009, 03:04 PM Personally, there's a few.
Funaki vs Rutten II is always one that springs to mind. It was one of the first real superfights in Pancrase and MMA and it delivered.
Bonnar vs Griffin I wasn't a great show of technique but was great for the fact that they just went to war and could barely make it out of there alive. Kind of reminded me of Ward vs Gatti I.
Silva Yoshida I was fantastic. The crowd was hot as hell which is surprising for a Japanese crowd, and the match showcased Yoshida's toughness under fire and Silva's abilities to keep up and sometimes outdo a great grappler like Yoshida.
Nogueira vs Crocop and Nogueira vs Sapp were great for the fact that Nog was being beat up by both guys very easily until he switched it around and took the one opportunity he had in each fight to take the wins via tapout.
Fedor vs Nogueira I was a pretty historical fight. Essentailly the coming out party for Fedor and at the same time a shock when he won considering that Nog was seen as an immortal and fedor was still a relative unknown.
Both Rizzo vs Couture fights were great as well. Striker vs Grappler, with back and forth action throughout. It was like cat and mouse with each guy taking turns in being the cat.
And finally Frye vs Takayama. If you haven't seen that, then go see it. Un-****ing-believable.
There's probably a ton of fights I'm missing out on.

These are all awesome fights.
Wanderlei Silva vs Quinton Jackson I + II
Really put Rampage's durability and Wanderlei's dominance on display. Some back and forth moments in these fights fueled by real bad blood. Great shows.
Mirko Cro Cop vs Fedor Emelianenko
Epic. Much dominance by Fedor, but a great fight.
Jens Pulver vs Urijah Faber
**** hit the fan. Five rounds of fast paced action.
Miguel Torres vs Yoshiro Maeda
A great three round fight, super action-packed. Some comedic mockery as well.
Bunch of them slipping my mind.
Palma 05-26-2009, 06:45 PM Fedor vs. Mirko was the best fight I have ever seen.

Don Corleone 05-26-2009, 07:01 PM Some of the best or at least my personal favourites are:
Jackson vs. Silva II- Just overall one of my favourites considering W. Silva is my favourite 205 lb fighter of all-time and Jackson is one of the most entertaining fighters as well. All I have to say is the knees were devastating and bodies were left dangling from the ropes.
Fedor vs. Cro-cop- Just the two names on the card means it was one of the greatest fights and interesting as well.
Frye vs. Takayama- Wow! It's probably the most explosive one minute fight in MMA history. In fact, it was entertaining and explosive throughout the whole match. I've never seen an all-out MMA war that was fought in that fashion.
Liddell vs. Silva- This fight should've happened much before its original date of UFC 79 during PRIDE Grand Prix if it wasn't for Jackson beating Liddell the first time. But nonetheless, it was a great match-up as both fighters traded punch for punch however one man got the better of it...in a decision win that is.
Fedor vs. Randleman- I really like this fight because of Fedor's ability to come back and win in an unexpected way. Not to mention, Randleman's legendary slam which is one of the most brutal I've ever seen. It's absolutely classic the way Fedor was slammed on his head but managed to withstand it. Any other fighter would've probably been knocked out from such a slam.

I have a love hate relationship with the Diaz-Gomi fight. I hate watching it but its a really good fight.
the traveler 05-27-2009, 11:30 AM A really good fight I saw awas against this black guy and white guy in WEC. I forget their names. The white guy took the black guy down in the first round and the black guy fought hard and ended up getting on top of the white guy by the end of the ground. He used sprawl and brawl in the second round and secured a ko victory.
But the best fight I've ever seen is Melvin Mahoef vs Cyborg Santos: http://www.mmatko.com/melvin-manhoef-vs-evangelista-cyborg-santos-fight-video-cage-rage-15/
