Can someone give me a review?

I'm getting rid of this POS Mitsubishi and I found a Cherokee that I like. Its a 98. I've driven Explorers and Blazers, how does the Cherokee compare?

94...I liked mine a lot until I neglected maintenance to the extent of severe damage.

It's comfortable, reliable and all of that good stuff...not very good on gas.

I bought it from the dealer and it hadn't even had time to be serviced yet because I bought it the day they got it...it was a trade-in for a Cadillac, I think. They said the U-Joints need the be replaced and they would do it for me but it would be a few days because it was a Friday and they are not open on the weekend. My dad said, "That's no big deal"...well, 6 months later I still never replaced them. The fact that I was doing RNDs(reverse-neutral-drive) didn't help it any. The vibration got worse but I drove it harder for some reason and was doing 75+mph down the highway on the way to my dad's and the driveshaft fell loose and slammed against the road about 76,034 times. I pulled over, took the driveshaft out, put it in 4wd and drove it for like a month. It ****ed up my muffler, something called a housing extension, the driveshaft and a little bit more.

After I got it fixed, I put it in drive when the RPMs were are like 4K. Driveshaft was back on the ground and broke something called the yoke.

I had a garage take the old yoke off and put a new one, very simple process but the guy put it on with an impact wrench and stripped the pinion gear in the rearend. I didn't know that at the time and since I don't drive very much it took a little while for the problem to get worse and show up. I still drive it anyway.

All things considered, it's a good car just not a good driver.

Is yours the 6 cylinder 4.0?

How smooth is it on road trips?

Yes, it's the 4.0

It's lovely on road trips. I've gone to West Virginia, Virginia(2x), Florida, and random cities hours a way in North Carolina.

I'm thinking about selling mine for $4,000 soon

I really want something I can hold onto. I would probably get another car later on..Something with all the buttons and gadgets, but still keep the jeep to the beach and on road trips..

I drive a 2001 Cavalier. Say what you want about them, they are tough little cars. You need a tough little car out here. The roads around here are putrid.

cherokees are pretty good but i heard they're one of the worst in regards to holding their value.

Hence the "something I can hold onto part"

I'm certainly not looking to pull a profit on a vehicle..

However, not the best, but there are many cars who have a worse resale value than Jeep.

My girlfriend owned one, she loved it. Traded it for a minivan, didn't mind, better milage, traded that in for a Tahoe, didn't want to do that...family convinced her.

I always assumed Cherokees to have pretty good resell/trade-in value but I don't nkwo what their brand new value is

My friend got a little over $2k on his 1993 jeep cherokee 2wd with 160,000 miles on it in trade-in

and my neighbor sold his 92 with 4wd and 70K miles for $7,500

Jeep Wranglers have great resell value. Horrible safety and everything else tho. Never drove i na Cherokee (sp).
