Honor in MMA and the modern day Samurai
I guess for me I see the athletes of today in organizations like the UFC and Pride as modern day Samurai. These fighters are gladiators from days gone by that train and prepare for combat. Of course this is a sport, but it is also a way of life for a lot of these athletes. You cant just train for a couple of weeks and become a champion in the UFC battlefield. Its a day in day out process. Those that want to win and become a champion train day in and day out. Every single day. They are nothing short of Samurai.

The article is basically about the shirt that Ortiz wore at UFC 49 and the lack of respect that he has for pretty much everyone.

Well that was nice, as your opinion of course. I personally did'nt agree too much with some of that stuff you talked about, but whatever, I guess you wrote your opinions on paper and hoped for people to agree with you, which I'm sure some do.

A quick comment on one of the few things I did'nt agree with....
I don't think you've really payd attention to Ken Shamrock over the past 2 years. Hes respectful? To who? He was a bad example to use if you're lookin for someone to agree with you. However, him and Tito both have done ALOT for the sport, and whether or not they have personal differences with their opponents, it is up to them how they handle it. Everybody is different, not everyone can go in there and smile at their opponent and shake hands... and thats gotta be respected, I mean afterall, they are about to beat the **** outt've eachother, so its only natural. The part I did agree with was the ending of a fight and a winner being awarded the win and acting like a dick, however its a case by case basis. A good example would be Tito and Ken (probablly 2 of the most known and most disrespectful, known "loud mouths" in the sport) hugged and gave eachother props after fighting.

Is it for ticket sales? Of course. Pay attention, BRO. Dana White, UFC President, recently stated in an interview, "The Tito vs Guy Metzger interviews are planned".
