While many MMA fans and insiders would consider Lyoto Machida the most elusive fighter in Mixed Martial Arts, FightMetric uses statistical analysis to prove that he’s actually the second most elusive(of the list they’ve assembled) mixed martial arts fighter. The stats below comes from the number of strikes a fighter takes divided by the number of minutes fought to give you the number of strikes absorbed per minute of fighting(SApM). Here’s the list:

Frank Mir: 2.7 SApM
Rashad Evans: 1.39 SApM
BJ Penn: 1.23 SApM
Georges St. Pierre: 1.01 SApM
Anderson Silva: 0.71 SApM
Lyoto Machida: 0.64 SApM
Fedor Emelianenko: 0.59 SApM

As you can see Fedor Emelianenko has the lowest SApM with Machida coming in second. Take from this what you will, but these two fighters are very hard to hit.

Cherry picking the exact angles that LOOK like Fedor made him miss those, and ignore all the other angles as well as all the other landed strikes is laughable. I already saw those gifs on the mma forums.

The only thing that shocked me was that the camera angle that was shown when the KO happened was so close that when Fedor connected Andrei disappeared from the view of the screen. Then they went to a wide shot and Andrei was out cold on his face. It happened so quick that it wasn't until I saw the replay that I realised what actually happened.

Exactly...it was at such an awkward angle that I originally thought it was a dive until I saw the replay. But obviously there's really little you can fake in MMA but it's just I wasn't convinced that it was a big punch that hit him. The multiple camera angles proved different.
