Machida's style is a bad match up for big strikers.

Absurd statement.

Not only would Fedor outstrike Machida but he would close the gap quickly and decimate him on the ground.

But nobody is beating Machida at 205 except maybe Shogun

Machida is patient.

Evans couldn't touch him.

Plus, I've never seen anyone as good as Machida is in Shotokan Karate take on Fedor? I don't think I've ever seen Fedor fight anyone who uses Shotokan karate?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't even try and say machida has a chance against fedor.Fedor is the greatest mma fighter and a living legend.

Machida would get destroyed in the first round?

Fedor knows how to close the gap and he has an iron chin. The minute Machida strike Fedor will pull of a miracle and show the world why he is the best

Fedor is not human though.
As for Machida vs. Jackson which is next, I'm trying to figure out how the hell Jackson is going to catch Machida with a hook. Its as if Evans, with all the speed he has, was moving with cement boots on against Machida. I admit I hadn't watched much of him in the past, but this display tonight was unreal.

Fedor has fought everybody in virtually every discipline and has beat them at their own game. Nog- BJJ, Schlit- Kickboxing, AA-Boxing/Striking and the list goes on forever

If this fight was ever made, Fedor would out Shotokan Karate Machida's ass all day before choking him out. lol

Fedor would probably humbly break cinder blocks with his head (one of the toughest katas in karate) then perform a lui kang kick onMachida

you have it backwards. Machida needs to come up in weight to fight Fedor.

HW > LHW

You expect Ali to go down in weight to fight RJJ?

thats my point, nobody has come close yet to figuring out how to hit him........let alone beat him.

rampage can't check a leg kick so he's not going to do it.

Forrest is too slow

Anderson won't fight him because they are friends & train together

Shogun has a slim chance if he returns to the Shogun of old.....but even thats slim

Not really.

Until he proves it.

I'm not doubting Fedor to be the greatest MMA fighter out there. Nor am I saying that he can't beat Machida at heavyweight. As well as the fact I'm not saying he has a small chance against Machida.

I'm just saying Machida could win. Basing this off the fact that Fedor has never fought anyone like him.

Honestly, why the hell would you want to see a weight drained Fedor fighting Machida at 205? Thats like having Wlad coming down to cruiser to fight Haye. It doesn't make sense.

The fact that he would have no strength and energy to fight Machida @ 205 would probably suggest Machida would win. Naw, but I see what you're saying I guess, for your argument sake, I'll still say Fedor. Why. He always finds a way to win. He too is patient, and keeps his emotions in check. He is a master as well.

To be honest, I find the Machida beating Fedor comments to be quite absurd. I know they're at a time when Machida just won and so there's obviously going to be atleast a bit of bias in favour of Machida but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Fedor and Machida are two entirely different people. This is Machida's only taste at a belt and at a huge victory in his career. Let's not forget that Fedor has fought hundreds of these. I'm not downplaying Machida's win or skill in any way but saying he'd beat Fedor is utter ignorance and plain and outright absurd...it's way too early for him to even be uttered in the same sentence with Fedor. Give him some time and perhaps a Fedor vs. Machida fight can be discussed but it's way too early to comment on such a fight.

Some say Fedor has never fought anyway with the skills of Machida but I'd disagree. Instead, I'd say Machida has never (and will probably never in his career) fight anyone as strong, focused and overall well balanced as is Fedor.

Anybody who says that Fedor should move down to LHW is a ****ing retard, plain and simple.

Fedor is naturally 230 anything below that is b/s.

IF it were ever to happen, just have Machida gain 1 pound or fight at his walking weight and he's a HW.

How about I NOT hear an ripped Fedor nickname for another fighter. First its that dumbas sozynsky or whatever with "The Polish Experiment" very unoriginal (the russian experiment). Now its Machida with "The Next Emperor".

How about just no. Lets leave Machida's nickname as the "The Dragon" and just that.

Also. Fedor would lose to Machida. You cant beat Mr. Hit & Run.

LMAO. Fedor beats everyone at their own game.

Fedor isn't stupid, he won't stand with him if he doesn't have to anyway. He'd take him down and keep there. No way in hell does Machida handle Fedor's strength.

Not that I'm saying that Machida could overpower Fedor, but he is VERY strong. He has a background in sumo along with BJJ and Karate.

Also, I am pretty sure I remember hearing a while back that there were thoughts of Machida going up to HW to fight Lesnar. That would be an interesting one.

Fedor is still the king. As far as skills go. Two completely different fighters who are as effective as each other in their respective divisions. Fedor takes top spot for the fact that he has had the longer career and has fought the best of the HWs on a consistent basis. If Machida is able to stay atop the LHW division for as long as Fedor has the HW division, then he'll be in with a very huge shout for being P4P #1.

I was not attempting to bestow a new nickname on Machida, I was using Fedor's nickname as a metaphor to indicate my belief that Machida will be a future p4p #1. I was not making a case for Machida for #1, and I was not proposing a head-to-head match-up with Fedor.

Basically, while Machida's style is very different from Fedor, my point was basically that Machida has shown a style which is very technically sound and extremely difficult to beat. As such, I expect Machida to reign dominant for some time--hence the Fedor analogy.

There is ONLY one fighter that has proven his worth in about 31 fights, that has only been stopped by one doctor.

There has only been ONE fighter that has beaten:

5 different X UFC champions
Coleman 2X
Randleman
Sylvia
Nog 2X
Arlovski

4 kick boxing champions
Schilt
Hunt
Goodridge
HMC

6 different MMA champions
Coleman 2X
Randleman
Sylvia
Nog 2X
Goodridge
Arlovski

2 silver olympic medalist
Lindland
Ogawa

1 ADCC open weight champion
Arona

Honorable mention
Mirko Crocop
3 time K-1 finalist
2005 loss to Fedor at final conflict
2006 GP winner
#2 ranked fighter at the time

There is only 1 fighter that has gone 30+ fights that has

- Never lost a decision.
- Never been sub'd
- Never been knocked out
- Never been knocked down

Only one fighter that has ever won 5 different mma championships.
- Wamma HW belt
- Pride HW belt
- Pride Grand Prix tournament
- Rings King of Kings tournament
- Rings world class tournament

All while finishing 76% of his opponents.
A current 25 fight win streak
With 22 victories in the first round
4 victories in the first minute
12 victories in the first 2 minutes

No other fighter in all MMA has any where near the list of accomplishments.

Mind you Fedor did this while being injured 2 times due to injuries he sustained to his hand during a fight.
