but reading through these threads it seems as though lil wayne is brought up in well over half of them, even though the subjects are often completely unrelated. while i do not pretend to have super in depth knowledge of his work, there is a song off of the Carter III that really solidifies Wayne as a talented artist so i thought i'd post it just to see what other people's thoughts were.

i view this track as being extremely creative and unique. it is proof that he can flow and spit some clever and well developed lyrics.

Back in the Cash Money days, where I thought most of the label's music was garbage, I thought Wayne showed some talent and separated himself from the rest of the bunch.

The media did too and swung the praise way too far the wrong way so that now Wayne thinks everything he says on a record is worthy of "final cut"...

If he wasn't releasing so much material in such volumes, he could do a better job of editing out some subpar efforts. And the autotune and sing-songy style...not your best side, Weezy. Stop it...

I agree. I tend to like Lil Wayne's poppy songs. I think he's at his best when he's doing stuff like "Stuntin Like My Daddy" and similar material. The auto-tune should be used sparingly by certain artists and rappers singing bothers me to no end. It's what turned me off to Eminem somewhat.

The market is/was over saturated w/ Lil Wayne and I think that's mostly what was irking people.

Because he is popular? Umm, Wayne is not the first rapper to be popular. People hate on him because, although pretty good, he is tremendously overrated by people comparing him to Hip Hop greats.

Lil Wayne has talent, and I respect him.

But I do feel some make him out to be the greatest rapper of all time. And in my opinion, hes not....not even top 20. But who knows, he might get there someday...

Tha Carter II is a southern classic imo, from the production, lyricism, album structure, It's just a well put together album. Managed to keep the filler to a minimum and even then, filler tracks wern't drowned in auto-tune. Still listen to it every few weeks, It's literally in rotation year round.

Tha Carter III on the other hand is awful with little-no highlights such as Dr. Carter. None the less, this is a business, and he sold alot of records on the strengh of songs the general public loves, which in turn brought down the quality of his album.

When you go from 'Fireman' & 'Hustler Musik' to 'Lollipop' & 'Got Money', there's something wrong.

Hate to bring negativity. But I thought Dr. Carter was ehh or lame. I usually skip over it when I play the album.

Good concept just not feeling it. I'd rather listen to Lollipop.

No, there are several other rappers that have been popular. But to say Lil Wayne is popular is an understatement....He is the most popular rapper. The more popular you are, the more haters you have. Its a simple formula that works almost everytime (see Kobe Bryant, 50 Cent, Arod, etc.)

The Carter 3 is on sale this week at best buy for $7.95....definitely worth coppin. I would buy it if i didnt already.
