I'm a southpaw as well. I don't know about increasing power as power is mostly genetic, but increasing speed is better in my opinion. If you can have an explosive, fast left hand, your opponent won't see it coming. The punch your opponent doesn't see coming hurts the most. Use hand-weights (2-4 lbs) and shadowbox multiple rounds with them. Once you get the speed going, your left hand will be very dangerous.
Watch this video as well on handspeed:

If you want to increase the power of your straight right, practice throwing it, with enthusiasm, against a heavy bag. Nothing will work better.

I think that hint of information right there that nothing will work better than punching a bag just shows how much boxing knowledge you contain.
Don't listen to this dude he doesn't know what he's saying.
As for increasing the power for straight punches pushups and pullups are your friends. Pushups increase the exploding pushing power of your punches while pullups will increase the speed your punches are pulled back. shadowboxxing with weights help as well
practice the right jab and hook when shadow boxing, its more better if u shadow box inside the ring, then hit the heavy bag using only your right, also using double jabs and lead hooks in punch mits, then go for a light sparr and just box dont brawl use jabs hooks w/ your right.

hitting a heavy bag would help a little but i dont believe in it too much aside from helping with distance. footwork, balance, timing and speed is what you need. you said your a beginner so learn the basics before you decide you wanna punch hard. majority of people dont even know how to through a perfect timed stepping in jab or a good left hook because they are somewhat complicated moves if you dont learn quick or have a good grasp on the mechanics. pivoting your feet, hips, torso and transferring it up ward to your arm and eventually your hand. a lot of people dont even know how to pivot their hips. learn the basics and youll increase power with time. anyone can do isolation work to increase the muscles used but what you need is muscle memory conditioning and not actually to increase the muscle strength at least until you are ready.
