I'm buying some bag gloves and I'm wondering what size I should buy. I weigh 125 pounds and have thin medium sized hands. I don't have any hand problems. 10oz or 12oz? Thanks.

I use some really compressed 16oz KO Fight Gear thai training gloves on the bag. You're using 16oz gloves in sparring anyway, so if you want to look good you better practice with that weight. However, it can get kind of old limiting yourself to a slower speed with those gloves, and most 16oz gloves are bulky if not Thai or Mexican style gloves. Every once in a while I use 12oz gloves on the mitts to impress my coach or on the bag as a confidence booster. Also, you need to use 10-12oz gloves on the double end bag, the lighter the better imo.

If you fight or plan on fighting, get the 10's if you don't hit too hard and don't have any hand problems. That's what you'll be wearing when you fight so might as well get used to it if you can. Maybe add a bit of sponge in your wraps just to be safe.

If you're just doing it for fitness/fun get the 12's. A bit heavier so it will be more of a workout.

I agree. If you're looking to compete use some 10oz gloves. I'm the same weight as you and 10oz gloves feel great. Haven't used 12oz before so I can't comment.

completely disagree with the 16oz gloves slowing you down. if anything it will make your hands faster. calzaghe uses 22-24oz and his hand speed isnt slow at all. its all what your used to using. if you stick with 16s youll have more protection and if it does slow you down a little then just suck it up and get used to it. when you put on the 10/12s itll be like feathers on your hands.
