View Full Version : I'm embarrassed for the US
Curly Howard 08-21-2004, 01:45 AM They are getting special treatment all through the Olympics. That US runner who didn't start the race got a second chance when she didn't deserve one. That swimmer did the illegal turn and it got thrown out cause the judge didn't make his complaint in english.

I don't know what you're talking about on the first one, but on the swimming, it wasn't an illegal turn. M watched it and said it was legal. They threw it out based on the fact that the judge didn't make the complaint correctly, but if he had, I believe it still would have been thrown out.
On a flip turn on the backstroke, it's only illegal if you take another stroke after you've turned. He didn't do that.
The Austrian who won silver walked up to Piersol and told him that it was unfair, he should protest it. He would have had the gold if Piersol was DQ'd. I thought that was awesome sportsmanship and also spoke of the judges lack of judgement.
Fallout 08-21-2004, 10:00 AM But throwing it out because the complaint in english MCM? Thats kind of bogus. Even if the turn ended up being legal, its fishy.
GeNeRaL 08-21-2004, 04:26 PM Not being in english wasn't half the problem. There was no illegal turn. The ONE JUDGE, not any others, just ONE, decided to throw that at him cause he criticized that other swimmer from japan or somewhere earlier in the games for making an ilegal turn. The guy couldn't even describe how he saw it illegal to begin wth, as his written statement and oral statement contradicted themselves and didn't match. Even if it were illegal, rules are rules and if you wanna complain, do it according to the rules and this stuff wont happen.
handjobs4dollars 08-21-2004, 04:43 PM because your baskeyball team is sucking so bad, we feel bad for you.
Canada is sucking right now. One bronze and one silver what the hell is that.

The guy from Japan made an illegal dolphin kick on the the breaststroke after kicking off the wall. It the judges don't catch it, then it's not illegal. The judges have to catch it while it's happening.
This is on the Piersol story.

My point was that they thru it out because it wasn't made in english. f it had been thrown out because the complaint was bull****, then thats a horse of a different color.

They thru it out because PROPER procedure wasn't followed. You have to follow the rules. The athletes are expected to and so are the judges.

I actually could care less about the US or ANY basketball team.... Basketball is a game of sissy's, imo.

technicality
n : a detail that is considered insignificant [syn: trifle, triviality]
nance 08-22-2004, 03:55 AM What are you trying to say Creed? The judge didn't follow the rules properly and they threw out his complaint based on that. Even if he had followed proper procedure, it still would have been found invalid because HE DIDN'T DO AN ILLEGAL FLIP TURN.
Fallout 08-22-2004, 11:24 AM Then that should of been the reason they thru it out. If it was illegal, they would of said it was. If it was legal, they would of said that too. However, it look suspicious to say the least when they didn't even get a chace to hear it because the complaint wasn't made in english.

But the judge still DID NOT FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURE.
Having a complaint doesn't mean that they can just scream "illegal flip turn" and the medal is taken away. They can't throw out a complaint based on the so called violation if the procedure wasn't followed correctly. There are rules for a reason. It is for "fairness" reasons. Invalid complaint, thrown out. It's that simple.

Ok, lets say it was a french swimmer that made the alleged illegal turn. Would you be defending the decison to not even hear the complaint?

I'm not the one that hates America. And Yes, I would still defend it like I am now.
I'm very offended that you even asked that question. I don't have a problem playing fair. You do.

mmafanman 08-23-2004, 02:37 PM For me, full-court basketball is the best workout out of all the sports I've played. Nothing compares. Having said that, our U.S. basketball team sucks bird ****. That is all.

They aren't a very good team. Lots of talent players, but that doesn't make you a good team. If it did, the Rangers would win the cup every year.

Not good at all. They don't have one guy on that team that can shoot from perimeter. And that's a necessity in international play. A lot of flash, but no ****ing substance.
What about that ubermasculine gymnastics guy? There's some more US controversy. Some id10ts are saying he should give his medal back. I'd promptly tell said id10ts to **** off. It aint his fault the judges ****ed up.

Anyone catch the crowd problems at the track and fied 200m race last night?
Apparently some greek dude was going to have to take a drug test so he backed out and withdrew himself from the competition. When the race came on, they had like 4 or 5 restarts due to false starts and crowd noise of boos for the 3 americans cause they thing the USA had something to do with a conspiracy to get the greek favorite out of the race lol. crazy bastards don't even realize the guys failed the drug test a couple times before!
Mr. Beelzebub 08-27-2004, 10:58 AM I bet you those Greek ****ers from the Basketball team are more juiced up than Hulk Hogan... Those mofos looked like white, big nose gorillas.

That's why it was so sweet for the USA to sweep the event. They need to hunt down their athlete and have a little chat with him about saying NO to drugs.
