Ridge is also resigning. That guy was a owrthless peice of crap, so I dont care that hes going, but it would be nice if he was replaced with someone who was actually concerned about protecting the country. Im sure we will get another bag of crap to replace him. My prediction is the one and only Asa Hutchinson.

Ridge was useless but it was also a thankless position. There were already existing resources that could have been used to combat terrorism but Bush forced the guy to bascially invent a whole new department to do the same thing just so he would have something fuzzy and comforting to tell everyone ("Hey! I created a Homeland Security department! Rest easy!")

What, do people think that prior to this there was nobody in Washington looking into homeland terrorism?

I'm not sure about the public's opinion in the States, but here in Oz there's this perception that she doesn't have the compassion and that she's too mean a ***** to take on the role of secretary of state. Maybe someone can enlighten me?
