View Full Version : I got stuck watching SOCCER yesterday.

all of the tv's at happy hour were tuned to soccer. i had no choice. so now that i've actually witnessed the hype, here's my intricate review: soccer sux, soccer blows, soccer=****.

it's so ****ing boring to watch these dudes kick a ball around. lemme explain a typical soccer game:
the kicking lasts for about 5 seconds, the ball goes nowhere significant, but the foreigers chase it anywayz. the "action" appears like it's in slow motion....
then it goes outta bounds or some crybaby starts crying cause he tripped and fell. then the camera shows the refs doing nothing, zooms to fans screaming about nothing, and then the players are walking around the field. this lasts for several minutes and then repeat.

the ONLY thing that's remotely entertaining is watching the players get hurt. but don't let em fool ya. most of the time they're not hurt and they're just *****ing and crying. but i'd say 1 outt've 20 sobs actually DO entail a pretty cool injury. they'll play it in slow motion and you see some ****er's cleet just TOOL the other nancyboy's head in. then he lays there in agony.

i'll admit. they're good athletes. but soccer still sux. and the fans do the gene pool a favor by trampling eachother to death in riots over nothing. soccer fans need to be sterilized.

This conversation could go one of two ways....

1) I could accept that this is a strictly opinion based argument and not give it a second thought cause we will never agree.

2) I could rant about how great soccer is and how your opinion is ignorant, blah blah blah....

Which would you prefer?

Purity

2 of course. but remember the "HOW" word that you used.

"Soccer apologists say the reason it is not popular in the US is because the US is not any good at that activity. The US soccer team won the World Cup in 1991 and 1999. Better find another reason"

What? At least use facts to back up all this retarded babbling.

I play most sports. It's the competitive nature in me, whatever sport it is I try to play it to the best of my abilities.

I am playing soccer today, might play basketball tomorrow, some handball on the weekend. No hate for any sports.

Have you ever considered that what bores you may be exciting for someone else? You have no clue about soccer, so you really have no opinion. The same goes for mouse.

Purity

i know the rules, i explained why it bores, you didn't, therefore YOU don't have an opinion and continue to=the wrong

You told me why it bores you. The only fact you stated is that it bores you, which is fine. For me, and billions of other people, it is exciting. I don't need to explain anything to you or mouse. You guys just don't like it. Cool. I understand. I feel the same way about Baseball. I really hate watching baseball on tv. But that's my opinion.

Face it. You only have opinions, not facts.

I get bored watching almost any sport (with the exception of combat sports, one on one competition), team sports always have moments that bore that poop out of me... I have fellen to sleep watching baseball, basketball, soccer, and football.
I rather be a participant than an expectator.

Exactly, all sports have their highs and lows. **** even some MMA mathces put me to sleep. You know the ones where both fighters act like they're too scared to fight and just hug on the ground without moving.

I love to watch rugby and hockey but to me all other team sports are slow or un intresting. Basketball sucks to watch because I don't see the effort like in other sports to get points.

I don't even want to start on why soccer is boring to watch. I don't mind playing it but to watch just plan sucks.

Old dudes love baseball for some odd reason. My father sits through every yankees' game from the beggining of the season to the end; he can't even go to sleep until the game is over.

LOL, my dad falls asleep in the chair and we all yell at him for snoring...he's loud.

I think part of the reason he watches it so much is because when he was a kid, he used to sneak into the stadium in St. Louis to watch the games. When he was 18, he saw the Atlanta Braves play and that's all she wrote! He is a diehard Braves fan. He even gets emotional over the games, plays and players. I keep tissues on hand for him.....

I also think old guys watch it because they are from the era of "they played it for the love of the game" and not for the money.
