For some kickass Progressive Rock, check out Porcupine Tree (www.porcupinetree.com ). If you let the intro load up, it samples part of a song off their latest album, which i think might be their best album, "In Absentia". Check that out.

If you like bands like Rage Against the Machine, Hed(PE), and KoRn, you might enjoy Skindred. (http://www.skindred.com) The song that loads off their site is pretty reggae-ish, but most of their songs aren't really like that. They've got a great sound to em if you are into the bands i mentioned.

Other bands i like that you might...

-Katatonia (there are two bands named this, im referring to the more layed back one, not the death metal one. in particular, the album "Viva Emptiness.")
-Tool & A Perfect Circle -always good stuff with either of those.
-In Flames -if you like some heavier stuff this might interest you. Very Melodic on the instrumental end.
-Dream Theater -many people dislike the singer, but i enjoy it all. extremely technical, among the tightest, technical, talented bands out there, imo.

hopefully you can check a couple of those out and lemme know what you think :)

Evanescence only wishes they could be this talented

well, Evanescence was formed after the album was out pretty much. Amy Lee was a one man band. She had to pay people to play in a band in live perfrmances when the demand came for it after her single blew up from the daredevil soundtrack. She is talented, but the band itself is just another band.

Lacuna Coil is also a nice step up from Evanescence.

I am Dl'ing nightwish - once (the whole album) right now, thanks for the tip :)

General, I see you like Porcupine Tree and Dream theater, try to get something of Ozric Tentacles, Atheist, Cynic or Sadist (it's a bit heavy but very technic)...

GeNeRaL

Get the Century Child CD by nightwish if you can.

nightwish lady's voice is 1000x better than amy lee's in my opinion
and lacuna coil is really nice

nightwish is in a battle with my favorite bands for the spot underneath tool.

Paniko, for 9.98 a month im a member of Easynews. Basically, you can DL up to 10GB/month of music, movies, programs, etc. I kid you not i can log on right now and Download at least a dozen Ozric Tentacle albums. might be worth checking out, even for one month if you wanted to just get a bunch in one shot. I'm a music junkie with 80+ gigs of mp3's so i find it very useful! (www.easynews.com)
