View Full Version : My dog, Pilar. Allison 08-11-2004, 03:23 PM Sorry, it was taken with a phone camera. http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4d630b3127cceb44a97ee07bc0000001610 The Mouse 08-11-2004, 03:47 PM I can already tell that that's going to be a big dog. Prince 08-11-2004, 03:48 PM what's the name from? The Mouse 08-11-2004, 03:51 PM On a side note.. there’s a weird vibe of innocence in Allison that I see in that picture.. it’s cute; she just looks too innocent in that picture.. it’s pretty damn bizarre....or maybe it’s just me....odd. Allison 08-11-2004, 03:58 PM The name is from some actress I saw in a movie the other day. I said that if I ever have a daughter, I'd name her that. I got a dog instead, but I call her Pili anyhow. Allison 08-11-2004, 04:02 PM Also, she has to go in two weeks to have her ears clipped. Then they wrap them into little cones, so they'll stand up. The Mouse 08-11-2004, 04:14 PM I've seen that dog-ear modification before.. mutilation, same thing. What made you decide to chop her ears off? Bluecifer 08-11-2004, 04:15 PM She's adorable Alison. Dobies are good dogs, easy to train and obedient. Pilar looks like a sweetie. The Mouse 08-11-2004, 04:31 PM Well, since mutilating animals doesn't bother you.. you could also cut off her tail if the wagging bothers you.. then cut her vocal cords if you don't want her to bark.. then if her paws get too big or if she gets too tall, you could always chop, (sorry, "surgically remove") them from the knee on down. For some reason if you give it a legal name like "surgically remove," it sounds a lot better than, (and is also more accepted), than mutilation or animal abuse. I'm not taking sides.. just giving you more options of different **** that you could do to her. Allison 08-11-2004, 04:34 PM You'll be happy to know that her tail has already been chopped. The Mouse 08-11-2004, 04:35 PM I really don't get it... Bluecifer 08-11-2004, 04:36 PM I really don't get it... One would think that you'd be used to "not getting it" by now. The Mouse 08-11-2004, 04:45 PM It's because I've always really cared about animals and never understood why it was ever legal for the owner to "modify" their pets, without it being called animal cruelty or mutilation. But in different cultures, animals are just dirt to them and they don't think twice about it.. so I guess I respect that, but I could never get it because I was always brought up to believe that animals were a loving, innocent species of life that should always be treated with respect and love. handjobs4dollars 08-11-2004, 05:03 PM While we had are dogs tail chopped off because she's a hunting dog and he tail would get cut up pretty badly when running in the woods. The Mouse 08-11-2004, 05:04 PM lol.. and if her tongue was hanging out too far, that would get caught up in the brush too.. why didn't you chop a few inches off her tongue too? nance 08-11-2004, 05:59 PM Allison...she's adorable. I love animals.... Bella 08-11-2004, 08:47 PM Pilar kicks major ass! She'll look awesome with her ears clipped too. We had a doberman growing up, his name was Duke. He was a beast. seldomTap 08-11-2004, 09:58 PM The pup looks great Allison, doberman pups are the funniest, especially with the whole large feet, bad co ordination thing. As for the modification thing, I am kinda with Mouse on that. I don't see the point with domestic dogs to clip tails or ears, seems kinda unnecessary. The exception for mine would be working dogs, for instance, a mate of mine had a dog he would take pig hunting with him. Was a blue heeler/ staffy that was low to ground, strong and fast. Its ears were naturally short, but the tail had to be docked as it is better for the dog not to have a tail when it is bringing down wild pigs, less chance of injury etc etc. But as for domestic urban hounds, let them be I think nance 08-11-2004, 11:01 PM We had a blue heeler once....he was actually a red one, but nonetheless....he had a liver shunt. His body could not process protein, so we had to give him special food. It helped keep him sane (the protein would turn into ammonia and affect his brain), lol...... he was such a good dog....we lost him earlier than we should have because he was a houdini....he'd escape and go to other peoples houses where I would then get a phone call from them with them saying "I came home and found your dog in my house." Their dogs would let him in thru the doggie door and play with him. He was the only dog they allowed in....his name was JAG. I still miss that dog.....he's been gone for four years now. Zen 08-11-2004, 11:32 PM Cutting off a dogs ears is mean, why don't you just stab her in the vagina while you're at it. handjobs4dollars 08-12-2004, 01:20 AM All I have to say is my dog is for hunting so she can have the tail clipped when she is young, in a vet's office or she can get it cut off when she goes under a fence. seldomTap 08-12-2004, 01:41 AM As it is for a practical reason, it isn't as bad as for just cosmetics IMO handjobs4dollars 08-12-2004, 01:49 AM True I feel sorry for every dog that is owned by a ***** who buzz cuts their hair just so they look great with their new dress. Allison 08-12-2004, 09:05 AM Her tail was cut off long before I bought her. They usually cut them at a few days old, so **** off. The ears are clipped traditionally because they are so thin. Doberman Pinschers have ears like paper, and they tear very easily. Even now, I have to watch when she plays with other dogs because if they nip much, they'll tear into her ears. Its also not something I want to have to watch for when I take her camping and things like that. This is my first dog, and she's already spoiled. The ear thing is what the breeder, vet, and other Doberman owners have told me. Don't make it sound like my preference cosmetically. I'll probably cry my eyes out when they give her the last shots. Chances are good that if I hadn't bought her, she would have been sold to a puppy mill and bred until she died. It took some convincing for me to decide on the ears until i saw pictures of another woman's dog, and they were fringed from playing as a puppy. Carlao 08-12-2004, 03:39 PM Pili is very cute just like her owner. Purity 08-12-2004, 03:45 PM i love the pili-dog song. it cracks me up. Allison 08-12-2004, 03:52 PM There's a new dog down at the pool thats her age, but its a St Bernard/Husky mix. Anyhow, that dog is all grouchy and Pili just launches herself on him constantly trying to play, so he kept trying to attack her yesterday. DOGGx0 08-12-2004, 04:43 PM How did you get the pic off your phone? Allison 08-13-2004, 08:48 AM Someone took it for me and emailed it to me. Leather 08-14-2004, 10:00 AM Nice dog!! We could have a threesome sex session... |
