I was driving past this and called my friend whose daughter was in the daycare center in the same shopping center. I had to go get her daughter, but thankfully everything was under control by the time I got there to pick her up.

The stupid part is, the police station is one block over and across the street from where this was.

What an idiot. Across the street from a police station.... I mean really, when you try robbing a bank, be a little smarter. Theres like 500000000 banks in Southern California and they picked one right in front of a police station.

The guy tried to cash a forged check. The teller called the police. The sec. officers approached the man, he bolted for the door, cops were waiting outside. Shootout, cop down with a bullet in his leg, (an officer that I've met, too....) perp dead, girlfriend drove off, was later arrested, she's got a history of forged checks, robbery, etc.

OPD is restoring my faith in them. Slowly...but surely. :-)
