The_Visitation 05-16-2009, 01:33 PM I'd check the rules. The British ABA prohibits wearing contacts, and I'd be surprised if the US was different. Mozza 05-16-2009, 02:12 PM It's potentially very dangerous to wear them, I wouldn't. Marvin6591 05-16-2009, 03:10 PM It's potentially very dangerous to wear them, I wouldn't. yeah i have soft contact lenses too, Im going to wear them in my next fight.... my main concern is not losing them but being allowed to wear them during the fight mr tricky 05-17-2009, 07:21 AM im from the Uk, you arnt allowed to wear them in the Uk, i havent had my first fight yet , the weight keeps getting messed up but it should be pretty soon, i wear my contacts all the time in sparring , they ussaly are ok, but somtimes one gets knocked out and it conmpletelty messes up my vision, i was thinking of sneakly wwearing them on my first fight even thhough your not allowed, question?.....for any body that has wore them in an atchual bout, Do they seem to come out more in a proper bout due to smaller gloves and more punches been thrown??? have any of you boxed and kept them in during a bout?? KING 2K10 05-17-2009, 07:35 AM You're not gonna get injured or anything by wearing them..The only problem is they most likely will be knocked out and that could distract you from the fight when they're hanging out of your eye..Plus contacts are too expensive to be losing a bunch of them like that. I fought once with contact lenses and one got knocked out of my eye.It was very distracting to continue the fight with one "good" and one "bad" eye.It was like being drunk. Pork Chop 05-17-2009, 01:13 PM I'm never gonna fight without them again, but then I'm basically blind without them. My optometrist said the "idea that soft contacts would cause injury to the eye due to a punch is ignorant" (his exact words). I've been sparring with contacts (and boxing gloves) for over 7 years. Getting hit with bigger gloves is more of a problem for me than with smaller gloves because of the larger surface area (harder to take the shot at a good angle) and they tend to be in contact longer due to the extra padding, which causes a smearing-like feeling. The smearing tends to pop out my contacts much more than a stinging blow. I'd MUCH rather fight with at least one good eye than no good eyes, but then again I'm probably much worse off vision-wise than some of you. It may be illegal in the state of Texas, not 100% sure but it's one rule I have no problem breaking & I'll deal with any consequences. cnnxcore 05-18-2009, 11:37 PM I was wondering this the other day. I'm near-legally blind and wear hard contacts (gas permeable) so fighting without my contacts isn't an option, nor is surgery (too bad to get it), so maybe get soft contacts to fight in? But I can see if the boxer was wearing hard contacts there could be a danger of the contact cutting your cornea. FLYBOY 06-01-2009, 12:09 AM I was wondering this the other day.
