Best dog ever. She was a collie/german shepherd mix and had the most beautiful personality of any dog I've ever come in contact with. She was only ten years old... last night while I was car shopping, my mom called me and said she was really sick... when I got home, she looked terrible... she had been vomiting all over the place and she could barely walk.. had her tail between her legs and couldn't even lift her head. I thought that maybe she had just caught a stomach virus that one of our other dogs had a couple days ago, so I layed down on the floor with her until about 4 in the morning, then I went to bed. My mom woke me up this morning and told me she had passed on.

I had to carry her stiff lifeless body to the car so I could take her to the vet to have her cremated, and I think that is the single most difficult thing I have ever done in my life.

I can't understand why it happened... she was so healthy, didn't look any bit of 10 years old. Maybe 4 or 5 years... I am having a REALLY hard time dealing with this, I mean.. this was MY dog. This dog cried and cried when I left the house and whined until I got home, and then never left my side. She was so perfect... I have been in tears all morning.... God damn I miss her.

RIP, Lucy.

Losing a dog is like losing a very close family member. My dog just passed the ten year mark this year.

I am sorry to hear that... I lost my cat about a year ago, I know how it feels.

I know that losing a dog is devastating. Sounds like she was an awesome friend to you.
I'm sorry for your loss Kitty.

That's one thing that sucks about getting one. You get SO attached to it, then it eventually passes away. It's one of the worst feelings in the world.

Sorry for you loss, sweetie.

I know how you feel..this is pretty crazy about our similarities here... my cat of 9 years died in my arms at 4 in the morning, two weeks ago. Like you, as soon as the vet opened up at 7am, I took him down there to get cremated as well. We weren't sure what had happened; he looked sick for about a day, then vomitted and was crying all night before he died.. it sounds a lot like your situation, oddly. Of course I had to take him to the vet and pick up his body etc, since my mom was too upset.. so I know the mixture of emmotions and feelings that are going through your heart right now.

Take comfort in the knowledge that you provided your dog with a good home while she was here, and that you gave her the love that she deserved before she passed on. Sincerely, I'm sorry.

Sorry about your dog. She wouldn't want you to be sad.

Death is definitely a beautifully complex sorrow-filled riddle that we will never be able to solve until we ourselves pass through that invisible veil that separates the living from the spiritual. It’s impossible to try and figure it out, or to derive it’s eternal meaning; and nonetheless pointless to thus dwell in it’s drowning sorrow.

Love is as powerful as death; I’m sure you’ve heard that before. However there is truth to the fact that the best way to beat through your sorrow and morning, is to remember the good memories that you have of Lucy. It’s what got me through these past two weeks with my cat. I’d start to feel sad because I realize that he’s not here, then start laughing and smiling once I remember all of the stupid things he did that made him so damn cute.

You can get through this if you focus on what Lucy would have wanted you to focus on; your loving relationship with her and all of the wonderful memories that she blessed you with.

Its hard to lose something that loves you unconditionaly. I remember losing my first cat. Watching him go from a healthy loving cat to a creature that could barely make his way up the staris.

It sounds like she might of had a stroke kitty.

If you play a country song backwards, you get your truck back, your dog back, you wife back, your job.....etc.....
