View Full Version : Analog stick controls screwed this game up Fight Night Round 4 Limited controls!!!
ACHlLLES 05-14-2009, 09:10 AM The gameplay demo video I saw on youtube, the guy constantly used the straight right as if the analog stick was limited to doing a straight right and a left uppercut!!!! It was ridiculous it felt like because of the limitations of the analog stick that he wasn't able to throw certain combination of punches and just basically the same one two... He didn't even throw one jab!!!

hookoutofhell 05-14-2009, 10:01 AM is config 3 still there - i understand that some ppl do take the buttons mashers into overdrive and because of that they can throw ridiculous combos but using the buttons is imo better.
i hope they haven't cancelled config 3, i find the analog sticks way too hard to operate
He might just be rubbish...
skyler 05-14-2009, 10:31 AM I actually liked the analog controls in FNR3.. i'm guessing FNR4 would be the same?
ACHlLLES 05-14-2009, 10:34 AM I like the button controls personally from fight night round 3. I don't see why they can't have both analog sticks and buttons. Especially since when I press the buttons it does the punches I want it to do without accidently hitting the analog stick to a certain direction that throws the wrong punch. What I had a problem with fight night round 3 analog controls was that it was too sensitive and did punches I didn't want it to do.

Really? Maybe you just never got used to the analog. It did whatever I wanted it do, I didnt have any trouble with it at all. I had it on 360 though so it might be different for PS3.
I'll get this one on PS3 though..
ACHlLLES 05-14-2009, 11:11 AM Yet, their is more attacking on here for people preferring buttons over analog... terrible
The Gully Gad 05-14-2009, 11:45 AM Gameplay looks **** though! It may be the player but that looks ****..
UFC is far far better
robjr 05-14-2009, 11:45 AM I liked config 4 on fnr3.
ACHlLLES 05-14-2009, 12:19 PM I liked config 4 on fnr3.
Mine was either config 4 or 5 on fight night. Everyone likes a different kind of config, that is why this game is going to hurt me alot. Maybe I will be shocked, maybe I will or will not like the new controls but I'm already fearing that I won't and I might even like fight night round 3 more just because of the comfortable controls(for me personally, I know some of you are analog fans which is fine, as fine as I am to use buttons instead)
ИATAS206 05-14-2009, 12:57 PM The guy playing just sucks.
I can get off combo's much faster and fluently than FN3. If you're a button pusher, yeah it might be tough at first, but once you get it down it's a big improvement over FN3. Check the EA forums, the hardcore button pushers that have played the demo are saying the same thing.
Bottom line is you can get off faster, more fluent combos on FN4.
reedickyaluss 05-14-2009, 12:59 PM Just because one guy is doing the same thing over and over, doesnt mean the analogs are the reason for the limitations

exactly. It's funny, every time a video is posted I see people complain like, "why isn't ricky hatton throwing his body punch?? EA sucks for making hatton suck!" lol, it's the players playing the game dummies!! It's up to you to mimic your fighters style if you choose to.
them_apples 05-14-2009, 01:25 PM I could do quicker combos w/ tpc. button mashers weren't that fast. It was easier to time the jab but mashing away wasn't the quickest way to throw punches since fighters have speed limits.

If you haven't played it, don't judge it.
I played both, and this game is by far better. The physics engine is SICK.
There is only 4 configs.
Also... You have to control the boxer from the boxers point of view and not the camera. For those who used Config 4 on FNR3. If you know what I mean.

That's what I'm saying!! Often times I'll watch replays in slow motion, because you tend to miss a lot of little things because the speed of the game is so fast. Pushing off you're opponents, arms getting tangled, etc. I've never seen anything like it in any game.

Right. And there will be different camera angles you can choose in the retail game when playing as well, so you're not limited to just one angle.
