I think after the last performance, with boos n **** (i didnt actually see it tho) then maybe frank is throwing in him a bit deep. if he gets a smackdown then he pays him less while he gets to rebuild.

In his second fight he is fighting a guy who is 5-0, and has won by ko in his last 3 fight. Give him a chance.

The guy was 5-0 but fighting people in Czech Republic and Slovakia! I think people are being harsh on James. he is no different to the other Olympians IMO. He did make a mistake when he was complaining about the ABA like an ungrateful git, but nobody is infallible. personally, I think he is a southern tit but Franky Gavin is a poncey brum and Billy Joe is a bloody pikey! None of them have an admireable qualities on a persona level so why are people picking on the chav Degale? Kell brook is the only british prospect you'd wanna chill with on a night out

I didn't say i don't like pikey's, I was talking about their general likeability. Billy Joe seems like a nice kid, but people will think he is a scarfaced pikey who probably got his face burnt when he was trying to steal stuff. In terms of general likelability, Kell brook comes out on top and Kevin Mitchell is rock bottom with fellow saverner Degale.

I know pikey's and find Mickey O' Neill likeable and chamring in a way Billy Joe is not. My best mate from school was a pikey and a girl I ragged the other day was fine as hell but she was a bit sweaty as she lived in a caravan. The problem is not with me, but with the publics perception. People can't deal with their theiving hustling ways and that's what I meant about Billy Joe being in same boat as Degale, but they singled out the gold medallist for abuse! Maybe England has had enough of Olympic medallists not coming to fruition in the pro's? Who knows

Alot of fighters don't though. It is only his second fight so it is hard to say how good he will be. i reckon Gavin lacks power and that stoppage was bull**** man, bull****. Poor lad won't be able to box for 30 days now. he caught Gavin a few times as well, but he was awkward and cagye. Gavin had nice movement in his first fight. When I watched the Olympics I thought Saunders had head movement, style and defence suited to the pro's more than the other brits

Also, does anyone know if Billy Joe lives in a caravan or is he likew my Romany mate Stuey who has a semi detached house behind the caravan? Also, can any Romany's tell me if they are the same as Hungarian and Slovakian Roma people. Do they have similar language and ancestry or are European Roma people different? I was just wondering because British Romany people tend to sound Irish

I see nothing in DeGale that makes me think he'll be a world champ - he has no power, no real speed and is no great shakes technically. Saunders looks good, I'd like to see how he develops. Gavin looks the best technically, but lacks power and size at the weight.

Sutherland & Saunders look the best out of the bunch.

possibly one of the worst 5-0 fighters ever, and was outweighed by DeGale by more than 10lbs. was still impressed with DeGale though.

i appreciate that the first 8-10 fights are a cakewalk and dont expect him to fight any killers just yet. just saying that this guy had a very generous 5-0 and people shouldnt get too carried away already.

Unless they're KOing people left, right & centre (and even then you have to consider the standard of opposition) it's very difficult to judge punching power until a kid hits 23/24. Around that time the body finishes "filling out" and the fighter will achieve maximal bang (you can add a few fractions of force by improving technique, but no amount of coaching will turn a weak hitter into a heavy one).

Groves is the most naturally talented kid I've seen since Hamed. Some of the shots he throws are majestic. His timing is close to perfection and he hits with real wallop. But Groves isn't out there on his own. There are a helluva lot of young and talented British fighters coming through. The future has never been brighter, IMO.
