View Full Version : James Degale to face 5-0 opponent Infern0 05-13-2009, 11:18 PM http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=452336&cat=boxer Last 3 wins by KO, hopefully he comes to fight. The_Visitation 05-14-2009, 03:27 AM He'll try, but they wouldn't have picked him if he had a real chance. He may be 5-0, but that's four newbs and a tomato can. Home town hero 05-14-2009, 05:49 AM do you think under warren he will fight anybody before hes got 30 wins lol. O wait sorry amir. Kbmunro 05-14-2009, 06:47 AM james wont fight a decent boxer for a good few years yet. we may aswell check back in 2013 and see if he has fought a name yet...VERY doubtful under frank warren! ATFsven 05-14-2009, 08:56 AM I think after the last performance, with boos n **** (i didnt actually see it tho) then maybe frank is throwing in him a bit deep. if he gets a smackdown then he pays him less while he gets to rebuild. timbatron 05-14-2009, 09:39 AM I don't particuarly like De Gale, but it's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Fans are fickle. Sparked_1985 05-14-2009, 10:06 AM DeGale really looks like he is stepping into the game with Paulie Malignaggi punching power. He's going to have to do everything the hard way. I think George Groves will be better than him as a pro, never mind Darren Sutherland. S.G. 05-14-2009, 10:06 AM i'm just gonna ignore these guys for a few years until they graduate from facing bus drivers and teachers to actual professional boxers Sparked_1985 05-14-2009, 10:31 AM i'm just gonna ignore these guys for a few years until they graduate from bus drivers and teachers to actual professional boxers Cool, I'm going to be a Teacher in a year or so hopefully, I look forward to capturing a fight with James. LOL. I can hand him his first stoppage victory. King_Krunky 05-14-2009, 10:48 AM Maybe in a couple of years we can see him fight someone who can throw a half decent punch! Thats if he gets that far that is. Naps 05-15-2009, 03:52 PM Wow, a lot of negativity here for DeGale. Give the guy a chance, he's only just started!!! timbatron 05-15-2009, 04:24 PM Wow, a lot of negativity here for DeGale. Give the guy a chance, he's only just started!!! Yeah, give him some credit. In his second fight he is fighting a guy who is 5-0, and has won by ko in his last 3 fight. Give him a chance. The Clash 05-15-2009, 04:25 PM I think we all know that any new hyped fighter from the uk under warren might aswell just play knockout kings on ps3 to spar to face a bum I can see DeGale getting an easy ride till 10 bouts /10 wins then fight 11 against a decent opponent = Lights out for the Night for warrens next big thing Napalm Death 05-15-2009, 04:33 PM anyone got a stream for the fights? Infern0 05-16-2009, 01:48 AM Degale KTFO the guy in the first round, lol Leakbeak 05-16-2009, 02:35 AM The guy was 5-0 but fighting people in Czech Republic and Slovakia! I think people are being harsh on James. he is no different to the other Olympians IMO. He did make a mistake when he was complaining about the ABA like an ungrateful git, but nobody is infallible. personally, I think he is a southern tit but Franky Gavin is a poncey brum and Billy Joe is a bloody pikey! None of them have an admireable qualities on a persona level so why are people picking on the chav Degale? Kell brook is the only british prospect you'd wanna chill with on a night out Mrpedigree 05-16-2009, 04:43 AM The guy was 5-0 but fighting people in Czech Republic and Slovakia! Leakbeak 05-16-2009, 05:09 PM And what are you ??? A racist cunt !.so come suck my pikey PR!CK you cu*t !:*******: I said I would hang around with Kell Brook but not Degal who is an arsehole. both of them are half black so how does that make me racist?Funny thing is I ain't even white so don't jump to conclusions. Just because you don't rate the prick, doesn't mean you vote the BNP! That race card bollocks is old anyway. I didn't say i don't like pikey's, I was talking about their general likeability. Billy Joe seems like a nice kid, but people will think he is a scarfaced pikey who probably got his face burnt when he was trying to steal stuff. In terms of general likelability, Kell brook comes out on top and Kevin Mitchell is rock bottom with fellow saverner Degale. I know pikey's and find Mickey O' Neill likeable and chamring in a way Billy Joe is not. My best mate from school was a pikey and a girl I ragged the other day was fine as hell but she was a bit sweaty as she lived in a caravan. The problem is not with me, but with the publics perception. People can't deal with their theiving hustling ways and that's what I meant about Billy Joe being in same boat as Degale, but they singled out the gold medallist for abuse! Maybe England has had enough of Olympic medallists not coming to fruition in the pro's? Who knows Dem Eyes 05-16-2009, 05:14 PM DeGale looked OK in his second fight. Doesn't really go to the body too much though. Leakbeak 05-16-2009, 06:16 PM DeGale looked OK in his second fight. Doesn't really go to the body too much though. Alot of fighters don't though. It is only his second fight so it is hard to say how good he will be. i reckon Gavin lacks power and that stoppage was bull**** man, bull****. Poor lad won't be able to box for 30 days now. he caught Gavin a few times as well, but he was awkward and cagye. Gavin had nice movement in his first fight. When I watched the Olympics I thought Saunders had head movement, style and defence suited to the pro's more than the other brits Also, does anyone know if Billy Joe lives in a caravan or is he likew my Romany mate Stuey who has a semi detached house behind the caravan? Also, can any Romany's tell me if they are the same as Hungarian and Slovakian Roma people. Do they have similar language and ancestry or are European Roma people different? I was just wondering because British Romany people tend to sound Irish Hitman Hodgson 05-18-2009, 10:30 AM I see nothing in DeGale that makes me think he'll be a world champ - he has no power, no real speed and is no great shakes technically. Saunders looks good, I'd like to see how he develops. Gavin looks the best technically, but lacks power and size at the weight. Sutherland & Saunders look the best out of the bunch. Muttley85 05-18-2009, 01:02 PM possibly one of the worst 5-0 fighters ever, and was outweighed by DeGale by more than 10lbs. was still impressed with DeGale though. our recap of the card http://theboxingbulletin.blogspot.com/2009/05/british-scene-weekend-recap-sexton.html Mugwump 05-18-2009, 03:22 PM Christ on a crossbar! The kid is only just starting his pro career. Who do you want him to face next - Bernard Hopkins? Muttley85 05-18-2009, 03:36 PM Christ on a crossbar! The kid is only just starting his pro career. Who do you want him to face next - Bernard Hopkins? i appreciate that the first 8-10 fights are a cakewalk and dont expect him to fight any killers just yet. just saying that this guy had a very generous 5-0 and people shouldnt get too carried away already. Mugwump 05-18-2009, 05:31 PM DeGale really looks like he is stepping into the game with Paulie Malignaggi punching power. He's going to have to do everything the hard way. Unless they're KOing people left, right & centre (and even then you have to consider the standard of opposition) it's very difficult to judge punching power until a kid hits 23/24. Around that time the body finishes "filling out" and the fighter will achieve maximal bang (you can add a few fractions of force by improving technique, but no amount of coaching will turn a weak hitter into a heavy one). I think George Groves will be better than him as a pro, never mind Darren Sutherland. Groves is the most naturally talented kid I've seen since Hamed. Some of the shots he throws are majestic. His timing is close to perfection and he hits with real wallop. But Groves isn't out there on his own. There are a helluva lot of young and talented British fighters coming through. The future has never been brighter, IMO. |
