View Full Version : Wandarlei Silva vs Rich Franklin who will win??
LA BAD BOY 05-11-2009, 05:40 PM I think that Rich Franklin will knock him out and that would be end for Wand.
He was great champion for long time but I think his time is over.
Whats your opinion who will win?
Rich Franklin is a solid fighter whos best wins came against b level comp. Wins over Nate Quarry, David Louasiu, an over 40 Ken Shamrock, and Jason Mcdonald isnt a murderers row. He's got a quality win over Yushin Okami but when he stepped up he lost to Loyoto Machida who was much less experienced at the time and still knocked him out, Anderson Silva twice and Dan Henderson
Wand has ko-ed Sakauraba three times, Metzger,
ko-ed Kondo, Minowa and Rampage Twice, and beaten Arona, Fujita, and Jardine.
He has a queationable chin but so does Franklin to strikers of Wands caliber, even Quarry rocked him.
I think Wand takes this

Louiseau may not be too good now, but he was not B level competition when Rich fought em, his fight with Henderson was extremely close and as a matter of fact I thought he shoulda won that.
But this fight should be a good one, i think if Rich plays it smart, utilizes his foot work and moves in and out he should be able to beat Wanderlei, maybe even rock em and drop em. But he if tries to get into a brawl with the guy...he's in deep deep ****. Silva's one of the best brawlers in the business, would be a dumb move if Franklin tried bullrushing him.
Move BRICKS™ 05-12-2009, 05:10 PM Wanderlei via KO R1, it's really no problem to him.
Nodogoshi 05-12-2009, 09:24 PM Is this fight in the works?
F l i c k e r 05-12-2009, 10:05 PM I want Rich to win but his style is so awkward. Not in a good way, its just really really stiff. When I think about it, Wandy's wild hooks might just catch him and put him out cold.
top knockouts of '09....
Rashad-Liddell
Rampage-Wandy
Shogun-Liddell
Wandy-Franklin <---- If it goes the way I imagine it. Wont be pretty either.

Fighters already sign for that fight I think.
It will be in Germany!
MR. V 05-13-2009, 04:20 AM its blows that VS wasnt here in his prime. hes way too old now. hes been in some of the most brutal wars ever. would of been nice to have seen him in the uFC about 7-8 years ago.

Wanderlei peaked in Japan which is fine because he fought top contenders over there. He was actually in the UFC before he fought in Pride but wasnt so hot. He got ko-ed by Belfort, got a nice knee ko over a can, and lost a title fight to Tito Ortiz
Left2theliver 05-13-2009, 12:52 PM I don't think the thai clinch will be a big issue unless Wanderlei really starts to up his muay thai again...when was the last time he locked up a plum and unleashed some hard knees? Rampage? He seems to have turned into a brawler who throws wild hooks with an occasional kick...
Eric Holder 05-13-2009, 01:56 PM I think Wanderlei's shot and but I hope he can pull off the win
Hopefully Rich has been working on escaping the thai clinch, or else his nose is going to get pushed to the side of his face again. It's pretty much do or die for Vanderlei....
phallus 05-16-2009, 04:48 PM wandy knows he needs to win this fight, he'll try to knock the nose off franklin's face and make it exciting. rich is overrated, i think a shot silva can still knock him out at some point in the fight
Jenle890 05-17-2009, 02:23 AM That's a good question, they are both really great fighters. Silva is just ruthless, but if Franklin remains composed I think he might pull it off. They are both really nice guys too.
