This morning I decide to dress us real nice just for the hell of it.. walk into my office with shoes so shined I could see my reflection when I looked down, pants pressed, sleek black button up shirt tucked into my pants militantly fashioned with a new belt.. clean shaven, hair slicked back... then she says it.. (the cutest married coworker I got).
“Matt, you try’n to pick up ladies today or what?”
Me: “No mam, just decided to dress up a bit. Besides, I have my books; of which I find more enjoyment.”
(about this time one of my library books falls from my embrace and onto the floor.. forcing me to stop and exchange a few words with her before heading to my office)
“You have dated some real crazy ladies in your past, I can understand why you’re taking a break. You’ll find the right girl someday, they just don’t appreciate a gentleman these days.”
...I guess it was a compliment, but now I’m at my desk thinking about this.
What’s you idea of a perfect mate?
Mine is a lady that has got to be interesting, as if there were a depth to her that no light could ever reach the bottom of. I can’t date a woman that doesn’t read anymore, the fact that a woman simply reads actually says a lot about her. Someone that I could talk about Greek influence, sacred history, myth, and philosophy with would also be a killer bonus. Then of course she has to be willing to kick back with a glass of wine and just enjoy the ocean breeze with me... I’m also tired of girls who just want to **** me without any foreplay or romance. Maybe it’s just girls in LA, but it seems like they don’t appreciate a gentleman who likes to be romantic anymore; I’m sure as hell not getting rid of that for a girl. Other than all of that, she’s got to be open minded and a generally relaxed person.
