Did Eminem's new album live up to your expectations..? How do you rate this album compared to Encore or The Eminem show?

Floyd Sinclair

to say it exceeded my expectations is an understatement...I c/s this album to the fullest, realistically i project it as being a 4.5/5...right now i got it at 4/5, but who knows. Ems lyrics and flow are so consistent throughout the album, it has a chance of being a classic.

I'm on track #12, have heard two others to come, and I haven't really liked any song besides "My Mom"

And unless "Insane" was therapeutic, I don't know what the hell he was thinking putting that on the CD...

I wouldn't have trouble with gay lyrics by a gay rapper. That song was something different...

If it was something that really happened to Eminem and he wants to purge it through a song, I'd rather it be a bonus track or something, but I'd let it slide...

...if it's just imagined, it's irresponsible and unnecessarily ugly for the sake of shock value

Like on that real old Bizarre EP when he talks about abusing a little kid...I was like "too far"...

If it's really a skeleton in Eminem's closet, that's one thing...but rapping it for the sake of rapping it...not much interest there for me...especially so early in the disc

I only liked "My Mom" (Slim Shady LP feel), "Old Times Sake" (minus the accent), "Beautiful" (why not 20 tracks like this?), "Crack a Bottle" (harmless enough)

lol im not sure how often ill listen to this, but from a technical perspective i think its a very good cd. I like it alot as of right now but its replay value is questionable. Its not an everyday cd, i might listen to it here and there, but I give Em alotta credit for this...he came back, and both his lyrics and flow are maxed out...they couldnt be any better. i listened to the whole cd again, this morning while working out. I didnt like it as much as i did last night, but i still consider it a very good cd. Eminem killed it lyrically, and with his flow. The album flows smoothly....I project it as a 4.5/5....I see it being an album i like, but not one of my favorites. Thats kind of how i feel about Nas-Untitled, i consider it to be a very good album but not one of my favorites...still worth listening to sometimes.

Relapse will be a fun cd to listen to sometimes, but its made more for high school kids...not that its bad for someone in their 20's or at any age listen too, unless they're listening to it everyday. And one more thing, i dont see it being the type of the cd that gets much play in my ride. I would feel suspect driving around listening to eminem talking about jerking off to hannah montanna, and having his father rape him. I think its disgusting and hilarious at the same time that Eminem is willing to go that far.

people need to realize something--the album is called relapse---you have to think it's going to be dark and controversial...this is em in a new state of mind--personally--i liked the album--he's showing something different but in a sslp/mmlp mode--it will be a hit or miss album.

his genius is still there lyrically and flow wise...i can't wait until it drops and relapse II drops...that mother****er can flow like no other...he's still though provoking--he has peaked but you guys have to stop living in the past--he'd get criticized for talking about the things he talked about in the past with people saying, "oh ****, he's talking about killing his mom again and his wife--taking shots at pop stars and boy bands--and in a way--i feel that's what he did a little in this album--but the album is relapse--evey song does go hand in hand in some capacity--he's showing you a defferent aura about him--he damn sure hasn't lost his edge---just wait unitl it drops may 19th to see what happens.

The lyrics are sick, crazy, and funny at the same time. His word play is sick as **** though. And his flow is still on point.

I'm not saying it's great because it's not. But it's okay.

And it's by far his best produced album. Because most of his past albums take a hit with some of the production.

But on the contrary, Its got some very bad messages on it. I said the first time i heard it that i was gonna cop it, but i wont be coppin it now. Its worth the download though. I can kind of relate to deja vu, and beautiful is a great song also. Lyrically, he murders the whole cd...and despite his weird accents that are annoying at times, his flow is top notch. I'm actually really feelin this ****. I mean the production for the most part is ****in fire. Dre hooked it up. And Em's verses are ****in off the wall. This album ****s on Encore.

Just opions though. But I'm feelin this album. 3 am is probably the best beat I 've ever heard Em rap over.

The flow and the world play is ill. He really set this album up nice. It plays like a true album in my opinion.

I might cop this. From what I've heard it's a lot better than Crime Pays.

IDK probably not. I haven't really checked or heard any of their songs for the album.

To be honest I kind of lost interest in this album. One because the first one was dope and both of them vanished from the scene for a long time. I'll probably check it out though.

I was hoping for a better album. That pseudo Indian accent he had is annoying as hell. I don't care much for all that horror-core/shock value rhymes. I mean, I can take it at times (Big L's Devil's Son is a favorite of mine), but I prefer to hear other things than graphic detail about being a serial killing rapist. And his rhyme schemes and flow on Stay Wide Awake were vintage Eminem, so I wish he'd come that great technically with better subject matter.

The celebrity-bashing is tired and lame. The choruses generally didn't help either.

It is definitely superior to Encore though.

I might just hold Eminem to a higher standard because I've heard a lot of his stuff and he is so friggin talented, that it's frustrating to hear him resort to corny stuff like celebrity bashing.

Edit: I've been listening to Stay Wide Awake repeatedly. I'm still in awe of his rhyme structure and flow.

But they can't see what i can see there's a vacancy in my tum-my
It's makin me play hide and seek like jason im so hun-gry
Shes naked see no privacy but i can see she wants me
So patient see i try to be but she why does she taunt me
Pulls the drapes and she goes right to sleep but i creep right through the front see
So blatantly but silently cause i know that shes sound sleep
Whos waken me so violently and whys he on top of me
He's rapin me she tries to scream somebody get him off me
He's tapin me he's bitin me he's laughin like its fun-ny
She scrapin me she's fightin me she's scratchin like some dumb freak
Escapin me no dice you see I might just be Ted Bun-dy
Or Satan G what a sight to see I'm dancin in my red panties

I'm not even highlighting what he rhymes at the end of each bar.

Nothing like Son of Sam so please understand there's no gun in hand
Where's the thrill in the hunt there's no fun in that here I come with ax
Once I act like lumberjack when I'm hacking em up with that
What was that, dial 911, someone's coming in from the back

SMH. Ridiculous.
