View Full Version : Roy Is Ready
Truth 09-25-2004, 09:48 AM I think tonight on HBO we are going to see an inshape and ready Roy Jones Jr. Roy looked like he was in shape at the weigh in, he came in at 175 and Glen Johnson came in at 174. I think Roy is going to put on a show tonight, I am excited to see what he has left. What do you think?

semjasa 09-25-2004, 09:52 AM Jones only lost 1 fight, dont understand why ppl are doubting him. Me personaly dont like him, but i admire his skills.
He will win and the Roy Jones freight train will be back on the rails and roll on.
Ranger2408 09-25-2004, 10:53 AM wow roy looks so much bigger than johnson
I am not coming to this or any other boxing site until after they replay it on british TV
I am taping it too :D
neils7147933 09-25-2004, 11:05 AM Hopkins has already KO'd this clown that Roy's fighting. It's really not a big event. That's why it's on TV sandwiched between two PPV weekends.
I'm still waiting for Roy to step up and fight somebody he might lose to, the way a true champion and sportsman would.
But then, if you want more info than that just pull up some more of my threads. I went on a Roy rant last night on a couple other threads.
The Fix 09-25-2004, 12:32 PM is that "too sharp"fight going to be shown. id like to see it becauese he is one of my fav fighters
Cleary23 09-25-2004, 12:41 PM Glen Johnson doesnt even look in the smae weight class as Roy and he definetly isnt going to be in the same skill level.
I honestly think Roy will knock him down a few times and then win by TKO and I think he'll be able to do it whenever he feels like it.
Then he better go after Tarver again.
I think Roy will be abl;e to fight Tarver by Decemeber because he aint gunna get touched in this fight.
neils7147933 09-25-2004, 12:46 PM is that "too sharp"fight going to be shown. id like to see it becauese he is one of my fav fighters
Not on HBO - they're replaying DLH-Hopkins first.
Cleary23 09-25-2004, 12:55 PM I thought they were replaying HOP/DLH and then Too sharp was fighting then ROY was hittin the ring????/
neils7147933 09-25-2004, 12:58 PM I haven't seen an HBO tripleheader on Championship Boxing before. They did have a tripleheader on Boxing After Dark a couple months ago. I'd like to see Johnson. I remember he was on the undercard of a America's Fight Night on Showtime a few months back. Showtime's got a tripleheader next week, so I guess it could happen. HBO likes to hype a lot though. Remember when Jantuah got the 33 second KO and another fight happened but HBO wanted to do backstage stuff with DLH's cut on his hand and talk to Mark Ratner instead of showing actual boxing.
EDIT - I just checked the website. No mention of an undercard other than the rebroadcast of last week's fight
The Fix 09-25-2004, 01:06 PM damn i really wanted to see too sharp  . oh well roy jones is my favorite fighter so iam no that disapointed :)
grayfist 09-25-2004, 06:14 PM Jones- Johnson just hours away and I still don't feel my spine tingling; I still am not holding my breath. I wonder why? ;)
Ranger2408 09-25-2004, 06:19 PM my spine is tingling, i am dead excited :D i cannot wait to see it
jpboxer3 09-25-2004, 06:47 PM RJJ better not be hesitant and run all night because that'l tell us all that he still got that Tarver KO punch Tatooed to his head.I think he'l beat Johnson on pts but im not gonna rule out an upset just yet because Johnson is tough as nail and is in fact the Champion.
QueenCity 09-25-2004, 06:58 PM Hate to go off subject, but does anybody know if HBO will show the too sharp Johnson fight on the Undercard tonight. I have always liked to watch his fights and with the delahoya/hopkins re-broadcast I am not sure if HBO will not show that one or not.
grayfist 09-25-2004, 07:12 PM :) Sorry Garret, i just can't get up for a mismatch. Johnson has been taken out by Hopkins, wasn't he? He needs much, much more than what have been of seen him in all of his previous fights put together. It's always nice to see a Roy Jones display his wares, but, he should have done a Tito (take on an equivalent of Mayorga) for his first post-first-loss appearance. I pointed out in another post I made on this site that we mere mortals have always been told to "Pick yourself up where you fell". While Tito is not exactly doing that (he's not after all meeting Hop but Mayorga), he comes closest. I'm going to watch the fight later today, but, it's not as if I'm going batty with excitement...besides, its free. :D
restless_438 09-25-2004, 07:23 PM im real excited to see roy in action again tonight too. at least he'll have a belt again.
ghostbear 09-25-2004, 10:27 PM I'm missing the fight because of the stank hurricane. Thanks alot Jeanne!
Recluse 09-25-2004, 11:19 PM Did it start yet?
PacKillsMorales 09-25-2004, 11:27 PM id like to know how long till fight time
(please dont tell me when its on but how many minutes/hours till the fight)
jpboxer3 09-26-2004, 12:12 AM RJJ better not be hesitant and run all night because that'l tell us all that he still got that Tarver KO punch Tatooed to his head.I think he'l beat Johnson on pts but im not gonna rule out an upset just yet because Johnson is tough as nail and is in fact the Champion.
OMG! I had that feeling man.....Now people will give Johnson the credit he deserves after being robbed of decision left and right overseas. He had the desire and passion that RJ didnt have...Im stunned
Hope Jones is OK though
NichtGeflechten 09-26-2004, 12:17 AM Roy let himself get knocked out...he is a headcase now. You could see it in his eyes before the fight in the dressing room.
PacKillsMorales 09-26-2004, 12:21 AM ****...now i wish id just waited to see it and not been impatient to find out the result.
oh well now ive got to resist telling everyone else.
grayfist 09-26-2004, 09:26 AM :) Sorry Garret, i just can't get up for a mismatch. Johnson has been taken out by Hopkins, wasn't he? Who would have thought that a journeyman who had lost 8 of his 18 previous fights going into the Jones date, winning only 8, and managing 2 draws could have done what Johnson did?! Johnson taught Roy a lesson and in a much lesser vein taught me one too! :( :o But, the way I saw it, it was less Johnson who made it a match instead of a mismatch; it was Roy. He seems to have lost too much of the Roy Jones we have known! Has Johnson written finis to one of the greatest Hall-of- Fame-type careers seen in our times?

Roy did that to himself, Johnson just sealed it.
grayfist 09-26-2004, 11:29 AM Roy did that to himself, Johnson just sealed it.And sent the message for all of us to read, eh, buddy?! Guess you're right :)
