He is 1,65m tall and he weighs just 57kg. But when Daniel Moreno, 21 years old, jumps into a ring, he transforms himself into a giant! The black belt from the Fabrício Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Moreno made a great
impression in the amateur division of Brazilian Shooto (unbeaten after 3 matches). Now, the two times Jiu-Jitsu Champion (2003-2004 - Brazil) wants to start in MMA's
professional class, where fighters often weigh more than 60kg. 'There are few athletes at 57kg, so it is difficult to get a good opponent in my category' laments Moreno.
Besides the difficulty of finding an opponent, the Brazilian fighter also has another challenge: to make money in a lower weight vale-tudo class: Everybody knows that the best contracts are negotiated in the heaviest divisions. 'I will try to upgrade the salary for the littler fighters, but fans prefer heavy weights' said Jorge Guimarães, the 'Joinha', one of the promoters of Meca. 'OK, so I will
challenge fighters heavier than me. I believe fans will like it' expects brave Moreno.
