Lee McAllister a.k.a. “The Aberdeen Assassin” has been mandated to fight Ghanaian Godfred Sowah for the Commonwealth lightweight title, vacated recently by Amir Khan.

The title bout is scheduled to take place in the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen on the 19th June.

An effusive McAllister was quick to pay tribute to Tommy Gilmour's work on his career thus far, in the press room of Pittodrie, the home of his beloved Aberdeen FC when he announced the title fight to the assembled media this afternoon.

McAllister describes the opportunity to fight for this prestigious title as “massive” in terms of exposure not only for him but for the city of Aberdeen, and is determined to capitalise on this opportunity. There is no doubt that this will be another total sell-out show, in the venue which has seen boxing resurrected in the North of Scotland with the popularity of the local boxer.

McAllister is a great kid and a tidy little boxer. He fought dumb against Murray, though.

Hope he nabs this title.
