After reports surfaced that Dana White had nixed the idea of a fight between Roy Jones Jr and Anderson Silva occuring in the UFC, Strikeforce founder, Scott Coker, agreed to make the fight happen in Strikeforce. Nick Diaz would be fighting Roy Jones Jr.under MMA rules.
"We would absolutely set this fight up. Of course we would have to run it by Showtime for final approval, but I don't see why we wouldn't have this fight" -Scott Coker
It now seems that the only hope of seeing one of the legends of boxing stepping into a cage will be through Strikeforce.

that fight will never happen!
Is Diaz ****y enough to think he can trade punches with Jones? It should be over quickly if Diaz take him down...

^^^ :nonono:
Diaz is really good but he is an off and on fighter. That **** would be funny though, seeing him in the boxing ring. If he boxes like he does in MMA, he will be out cold. The dude does have a granite chin though, you dont normally see fighter's take a flush Hadouken from Gomi and stay alive.
I wouldn't mind seeing it. It would be hilarious if he showed up to the fight like he did with Robbie Lawler. That hook and a KO. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, I would love to see that. I wonder what Boxing fans will say???
I hope RJJ knocks the living **** out of Dickazz.
Shamrock fan?
And whoever said Diaz is an on and off fighter, I dont recall ever seeing a boring Nick fight. 209 *****es....

Im not saying he's boring. He actually is pretty exciting. He just never wins consistantly. He will win the ones he isn't supposed to win and then lose the ones he should. (killing Lawler and losing to Parisyan)

I can understand why Dana would turn down the offer. I think it's part of why MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world (and the UFC is becoming an empire). Dana likes to run his company focusing on the long term. Wacky matchups are the kinds of things that you see in Japan.
Having said that, I think he should have accepted. Anderson Silva would be pretty safe under MMA rules. Even if he kept the fight on the feet (I'm positive that he would), he has too many tools for Roy to cope with.
Diaz is no Anderson Silva. But he's got some very slick jiu jitsu. If this fight happens, he should sub Roy pretty quick imo.

Yeah no ****, not to mention the Gomi fight. Wait nevermind, the Gogoplata was nullified due to a cloudy piss.

This fight makes no sense at all. where is the connection? how do you match up Nick diaz against Roy Jones Jr in a MMA match? what is that going to prove? over time you realize that there is no better sport because they are both very physical, in Boxing yea there isn't as many tools to bring your opponent down but on the flip side that's less technique's you can use to bring your man down too so it makes it harder if you're an MMA guy, you'll be more used to grappling and having shorter fights, also you'd be less used to strikes as opposed to Boxing where it's ALL strikes and you can't be submitted unless you or your corner quits but thinking on the MMA side of things how would you expect a Boxer, a man whom his whole life he was trained to be face to face, on his feet using ONLY his hands to even be able to compete with guys whom takedown their opponents and try to submit or apply ground game. it's a fluke man and I just wish attempts to make fights like this always fail..
