I think it may just be a matter of preferance. There is nothing wrong with using guaze and tape. I like to train with 16oz gloves so i do not need that much extra protection besides the normal hand wraps. But whatever makes you a better fighter stick with that even if it is all in your head if it works it does not matter. supRa 05-04-2009, 05:42 PM nahh i didnt use gauze in trainin or ask margarito :ninja: Marvin6591 05-04-2009, 05:45 PM yeah i feel better when i use gauze and tape.... it gets annoying sometimes but i still do it stacatto99 05-04-2009, 05:50 PM i just use extra long wraps, and go between the fingers. at least 180'' or more to get better stability around the wrist Marvin6591 05-04-2009, 05:53 PM wrapping with gauze and tape is more time consuming and expensive because the tape cant be reused boxingsmash69 05-04-2009, 09:39 PM i prefer using 180inch mexican wraps, AND an entire 10yards of gauze, folded up for the knuckle padding. works great. !! Shawn 05-04-2009, 09:51 PM does anybody use gauze and tape to wrap there hands during training? or is it mostly pros that just do this I do. I use one 15 yard roll of gauze and about half a roll of tape. After I am done for the day, I save the gauze and use it the next day to make knuckle pads !! If you are a serous fighter putting in 2-3 hours a day in the gym, an extra 10-15 min to wrap your hands right is more than worth it. RightHooker 05-04-2009, 10:08 PM I'd love to, but can't afford it. So I use two pairs of wraps and some gauze over the knuckles. RightCross94 05-04-2009, 11:02 PM i dont, i use regular handwraps, but then again my hands are very good, never had an injury or break and i havent been fighting very long, in the future i will probably start using gauze and tape, but its so damn expensive it definitely wont be until i need it Marvin6591 05-05-2009, 12:46 AM yeah man i have a lot of hand injuries so im trying to take care of them as best as i can SundayPuncher 05-05-2009, 07:07 AM does anybody use gauze and tape to wrap there hands during training? or is it mostly pros that just do this 180" mexican style, properly wrapped, is more than enough for working a 100lb heavy bag, when used with some 10oz+ (more often 12-16oz) bag gloves. Ive never seen any amateur train in person with the gauze/tape. For me it seemed that starting training (idk...9~ years ago id say, i was 15 and it was more for fun) with crappy velpreau 108" wraps, half decently wrapped helped strengthen my wrists/knuckles while attempting to develop a decent punch or two. Heh, even though i prob ruined the wrist training already the year before trying to do the same thing bare knuckle.....bloody knuckles/rolled wrists, not advised. But hey, the better the wrap to suit your punch power/technique/style, the longer you can beat that heavy bag. |
