View Full Version : Who is better Mos Def or Talib Kweli? Derranged 05-02-2009, 05:24 PM Vote and discuss. Chr0nic 05-02-2009, 05:40 PM how are you gonna put paul williams in the poll and expect anyone to pick anything else? it was your mistake bro mos def i have ranked higher tho, i just like his **** more personally but i bump both their stuff MetalVomit 05-02-2009, 05:43 PM mos def, but kweli has a stronger catalog Kobe Bryant 05-02-2009, 05:49 PM mos def, but kweli has a stronger catalog I'll take Kweli. Many don't like his voice but I do and I like his flow. Plus as you said better track record. Mos fell off and went to movies. Kweli has been putting in work. And I don't think you could argue any is better lyrically. I think they are even. To me it's about consistency. Kweli has been more consistent. Floyd Sinclair 05-02-2009, 07:16 PM At this point, im not really checkin for either one of them. They're both boring to me. Derranged 05-02-2009, 07:41 PM They are great rapppers and Derranged, you are a genius for making this thread. Thanks mate :beerchug: Floyd Sinclair 05-02-2009, 07:57 PM Thanks mate :beerchug: they have made great music in the past, im a big fan of some of their older stuff but i dont really have any interest in whatever they're doing at this point. Yea, to be honest I havent really heard any of their new stuff either, so you may be right sir. Floyd Sinclair 05-02-2009, 08:10 PM Yea, to be honest I havent really heard any of their new stuff either, so you may be right sir. im a big fan of the following cd's Blackstar Reflection eternal Quality Black on Both Sides I used to listen to both them all the time Knicksman20 05-02-2009, 08:29 PM I'll take Kweli. Lyrically they are about the same but I just prefer Kweli & his delivery. Train of Thought has to be one of the most underated albums ever. I saw him live at Radio City back when the album dropped & it was crazy. MegStarr* 05-03-2009, 01:47 PM oooh damn it is almost a crime to make a thread focused on a comparison as difficult to make as this one!! black.ink 05-04-2009, 03:52 AM Talib for me. When Black Star first arrived, i always thought Mos was the better of the two, but over time, Talib has shown more consistency. I take quality over quantity any day of the week, so although neither have released anything for a few years, i still put both at the top of the rap tree. I'm not sure when Talib is deciding to release his next album, but Mos has 'The Ecstatic' coming up next month, and with featured appearances from Black Thought, Slick Rick, Madlib, Jay Electronica and Chad Hugo all rumoured to be on board, we can all hope for the best. res 05-05-2009, 03:32 AM Talib is incomplete to me, all he has is lyrics. Mos Def has lyrics and mic presence. "invisible man got the whole world watching"- Mos Def on Hip Hop. One of the best lines in Hip Hop history if you know the literary reference. Order it. ........ oldgringo 05-05-2009, 02:41 PM I prefer Kweli. Train of Thought is one of my favorite albums and I think it's the best work between the two. Talib is consistent and generally always enhances anything he's featured on. abc123WBVA 05-05-2009, 02:49 PM A few years ago the answer would have been Mos Def, but (as others have said)... But Kweli has done a really good job with his albums. Coming up this year the new Reflection Eternal CD is supposed to come out and I think it'll be good to see Kweli and Hi Tek back together again. I posted the new song off that album a couple weeks ago, but didn't get any replys so I figured nobody was feeling that, or just didn't care of Kweli. ABC |
