The WBA stripped junior welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu of his title for failing to fulfil his mandatory obligations. Tszyu opted to face the top-rated challenger and IBF mandatory challenger, Shamrba Mitchell, rather than face the WBA mandatory challenger, Vivian Harris, who is now the WBA champ.
