I was at a restaurant eating a chicken sandwich, by my lonesome this afternoon. I look to my right and a bum comes walking through the door and starts at the table closest to him and begs for money. I seriously watched people give him dollar bills, then he gets to a few tables before mine and asks the guy for money, only to have the guy tell him "look, if you're really gonna buy some food from here, i'll pay for it, if you're just gonna go back outside and add it to your crack-cocaine funds.... then no." The bum agrees to eat there, and the guy gives him $10 to get some food, after already getting ATLEAST $5 before him.....

THEN this ****in hillbilly bum mother**** makes his way over to my table and asked me for money. I then got up, with a mouth full of chicken, might I add, asked him if it was for food, he said yes, I spit my whole mouth full back onto my tray and handed it to him and told him "you're ****in pittiful... enjoy."

Rude? I did'nt think so.

I was told by the waitress that it was VERY rude of me to do that, yet the cunt never asked the guy to leave as he was bugging all of their customers by walking table to table, then getting about $15 or so (I figure) and having the audacity to then ask me for money. First off, I don't take kindly to people who can help themselves rather than beg but choose not to, and if they cant at this point in their life..... then they once could and now seek nothing but help from others. They've had their whole life to make something of it.... and this is what its come down to? ****ing die. Point being, everyone controls their own destiny. If you chose not too, and I don't even ****ing know you, then don't come asking me to GIVE you money to help you eat when you had and/ or have the chance to do that yourself. These ****in bums rely on the kind-hearted person on a daily. I personally, would like to see them in jail or dead. If they went to jail, they'd be able to eat for free and have somewhere to sleep. If they were dead, well then my problem no longer exsists. 2ndly, I myself have a hard time asking for things, even if I have money. I'd rather try, or atleast attempt to do things on my own rather than ask for help. Asking for help just makes me, personally, feel less of a man, it means I am not handling my business. I can't see how there are so many people like this that still exsist.

Not saying that I would'nt help someone. Lets take poor, homeless children. 99% of that story is backed by some dumb ****, immature, piece of **** parent who can't and/ or decided to not provide for their kid. That, really can't be controled on the child's end. That is something I would GIVE my money to. There's this intersection near my house that I pass through every day, and just about every day, there's a "homeless" guy standing there with a sign that says "Homeless veteran, please help". Anyway, the other day I was stopped at the light, and the guy was gone. Instead, there was this hideously obese woman sitting in a lawn chair in the same spot, holding up a carboard sign that just said "POOR" in huge letters.

That crossed the line. I have no sympathy for beggers. Did you know on average a begger makes around 20-30 thousand dollars a year?? ****!! I don't make that much!!!

Tony, step into the shoes of the people you accuse of being weak. See the situation the some of these people have to live in and you will understand. Being in a situation that seems hopeless offen causes people to feel like it really is hopeless. A child that grows up seeing thier mother work two jobs, 80 hours a week and STILL not be able to get ahead installs a sense of defeat in them. A child in the second grade should not be worrying about how they are going to pay the rent. Growing up in a situation like that makes people feel hopeless, and thats a powerful thing. Honestly, how can you blame childern for the situation they are born into? As they grow older, that sense of shame and defeat stays with them. Thats why people who have it a little bit better off should do more to help.


What happend to treating others the way you wanted to be treated? I know if I was born into a family where my Mother had to work two jobs because my father left when I was 3 and I had to go to a school where I was more likely to learn how to handle a gun and sell drugs than learn to read.......I would want someone to help me. Thats why as someone that is a little bit better off than that, I am willing to do something about it. You only need to look at european countries to see what I am talking about. However, here in Portland, it is EXTREMELY kind to the homeless, tons of soup kitchens and shelters and they have a tax exempt campground called dignity village. It's well known that lots of these downtown pan handlers make over $100 dollars a day, also tax free. Kitty: The price of a one bedroom there where you are sounds awesome. You're lucky if you can get a studio for close to that price. It's more expensive out here in Cali, but we also have a min. wage of $6.75/hr.

Creed: Kitty's right. You can survive on min. wage. As long as you don't want the moon and you're willing to WORK for it. Those who are able to work and decide to beg, get on the nerves of us who do work. It's just plain aggravating.

Our story. We lived in TX when we, along with alot of other TEXANS lost their jobs. We had a house to live in because of family. Jim, my hubby, left TX to AZ to look for work. At first he was picky at where he would work, but he discovered that isn't always the best choice when you have one child and one on the way. I couldn't work due to my pregnancy with baby #2, complications.

Anyways, he found a job @ just above min. wage for the time. $5.50 an hour. No insurance when baby #2 showed up. Two car payments that we couldn't make. I went to work 3 WEEKS after she was born. We turned one vehicle in on a voluntary repo, filed bankruptcy 8 months after she was born (I got deathly ill and nearly died, although we had ins. by then, it was still too much out of pocket) We had debts up to our eyeballs and saw no way out. If we had to do it over, we would not have filed, but it was a way out for us and honestly, it worked. We had the second chance to get back on our feet and try again. We got pregnant again with our son and 5 weeks after he was born, we moved to CA. Paywise, it was a lateral move and it was the biggest career stepping stone for him. We had good insurance, he had a good paying job and it brought him to where he is now. This is our second purchased home, probably, hopefully our last, I hate moving.

We were down, we got up, dusted ourselves off and moved forward. And we succeeded by not repeating the same mistakes we made before. Yes, we did have the advantage of having family to rely on and we still do, thankfully. And we will be there for our kids if they need us. But if you don't have what we had, there are LOTS of charitable places out there that are willing to help. Aid To Families With Dependent Children, Welfare, WIC, Churches, Soup Kitchens, etc. You have to be willing to get off your duff and WORK!
Even I have gone to work at times to help my family out and I love being a stay at home mom and don't WANT to work, but when things get tight for us, I do. I just now have that advantage of working at home as a seamstress.

If you aren't willing to sing for your supper, then don't eat.

Already did. I was homeless for 8 months and I slept in the balls of mcdonalds playgrounds, public restrooms, and underneith bridges. Sure it causes hopelessness. A child that grows up seeing thier mother work two jobs, 80 hours a week and STILL not be able to get ahead installs a sense of defeat in them. A child in the second grade should not be worrying about how they are going to pay the rent. Growing up in a situation like that makes people feel hopeless, and thats a powerful thing. Honestly, how can you blame childern for the situation they are born into? As they grow older, that sense of shame and defeat stays with them. Thats why people who have it a little bit better off should do more to help.

I was raised by a single mother who raised myself AND my cousin AND worked more than 80 hours a week, while supporting herself through full-time school, refusing to accept welfare, yet still had enough time to show me love so if I can flat out state that, since I lived beyond your example of backing, then don’t you try schoolin me in a lesson of hard knocks.

I went to the same place today, ran into a new bum that I have'nt seen before. He approached me and asked me what song I was playin in my car, then we got to talkin about **** in the world (weird as ****) and then he stated how hungry he was and said "i'm sorry to bother you for some change, but if you got it buddy, i would really appreciate it". Coolest **** ever. We talked for like 15 minutes and I bought him lunch. He was a very decent human being. He asked me about work and if I knew a company that would hire someone like him for labor. I then drove him back to my office and got him an application and got him an interview tomarrow afternoon to be a laborer as a mover-grunt (I work at a relocation company). He was so happy, said he was gonna go find somewhere to cut his hair and get some clothes. I then offered him a ride back to the restaurant and he declined and said "buddy, you've done enough for me, I can walk from here, thank you".

Now THAT is an honest person that obviously is in a ****ed situation and trying to get out. I support that. See, I'm not a straight up *******. Its not that I don't like helping people, but not when they can help themselves and/ or have no desire to. Those are the people that get a big slab of **** laid upon them.

On a side note, I ****ing hate wannabes and lowriders. The cars themselves are cool, the money dumped into them is preaty rediculous. It only takes one to start a change. At least Dogg did something instead of being on a forum and *****ing about it. It didn't take up a whole lot of his time when the opportunity opened itself up to him and he did it.

Did anybody even bother to read Purity's windbag posts? You can get the jist of all of his recent posts in the first sentance of the first post, "Blah blah harsh reality", "Blah blah your country is a fan", "Blah blah blah". I just conclude it with my feelings on the ones that do it and are purely taking advantage of hard working people. Do they have another choice rather than beg? HELL YES they do. ****, when I was a kid I knew people that went to malls and shopping centers wearing the ****tiest clothes they had and begged, even though they did'nt have to. You're gonna tell me that these grown ass people... adults... never had the chance to do something to better themselves? Yes they did, whether or not they chose to help themselves to a better life, from a personal stand point... thats on them, not me.

You're completely wrong. I happen to have spoken with a couple of homeless people when I was younger. (the State forced me to join a "program", deifferent story though) Most of the BUMs I sopoke to have the typical my parents neglected me as a child or I was abused story. The truth is that they hate responsabilities; those people enjoy not doing **** all day long and living off people.
Those people have a better concept of how the human psyche works than you, boy. They know that out of 10 people at least 5 or 6 are gonna feel sorry and give them a couple of bucks.

Every, and I mean, every ****ing town in the US has some type of program to take care of them. There are shelters and programs that can help them get back to their feet, but they choose not to.

You're extremely naive bro, that is why you come across as a hippy sometimes. I have plenty of ****ing friends, including myself, that have had really rough lifes and they made it.
My boy Mexico has been on his own since he was 9 years old, came from Mexico with his older brother at age 11 (his brother was 15). Homeless people love to live a life without any type of responsabilities, I heard those same words come out of their mouths.

So you know the situation of a few and assume it's the situation of all. Nice. Whatever man, I got no problem giving change to someone who looks like they need it. Don't get me wrong, I never give bills, they're lucky if they get a whole dollar out of me.

I was at a restaurant eating a chicken sandwich, by my lonesome this afternoon. I look to my right and a bum comes walking through the door and starts at the table closest to him and begs for money. I seriously watched people give him dollar bills, then he gets to a few tables before mine and asks the guy for money, only to have the guy tell him "look, if you're really gonna buy some food from here, i'll pay for it, if you're just gonna go back outside and add it to your crack-cocaine funds.... then no." The bum agrees to eat there, and the guy gives him $10 to get some food, after already getting ATLEAST $5 before him.....

THEN this ****in hillbilly bum mother**** makes his way over to my table and asked me for money. I then got up, with a mouth full of chicken, might I add, asked him if it was for food, he said yes, I spit my whole mouth full back onto my tray and handed it to him and told him "you're ****in pittiful... enjoy."

Lately when they ask me for change I just say "no thanks". It throws them off just long enough for me to get away without incident.

I agree with Dogg on this one. The ****er already had aprox. $15 to eat. That is a decent meal anywhere. If the ****er was hungry he could have left o to the dollar deal joint and get a meal for about 3 dollars. Which in turn gives him 5 meals.

By the way, have you ever been homeless? Do you actually think it's easy to just go out and get a job when you're in that condition? Without an actual address or a place of residence to put down on paper, you'd find it damn near impossible to get one.

I was a volunteer at a soup kitchen over in Downtown L.A. years ago. I did it every Sunday for about a year. I've had tons of conversations with a lot of displaced families. Let me tell you, they don't have the luxury of taking anything for granted because they can't afford to. They can't afford to spend some cash on a whole chicken sandwich meal and spit it out on a plate. A majority of them just want to work and have a home, but they just CAN'T get hired because they don't have the basic necessities. They're either sick, in bad shape, or just destitute. In other words: ****ing absolute rock bottom. So they have to resort to the undignified life of begging for change just to get through the day.

Speaking of which...Have you ever had to beg for money? Do you think it's easy to walk around and have people look down on you and treat you like you're less than human? That takes a lot of balls, in my opinion.

In all honesty, I appreciate your response and can respect your opinion. However, thats all it is, is your opinion. I think yeah, sure, I was a bit harsh and that is something that I could have done without, however the contex of 'pointing it out' has to stand. It should say alot about my character? Of course. It says alot about how you and 99% of this world think.... referencing your response with the 'just because I got more change than him'. That bit has drownded itself and died. Its not that I GOT more change, I MADE change, change is'nt given. EVERYONE controls their own destiny. If I'm supposed to go out and be Mr. Nice Guy because someone ****ed their life up... well then you got me wrong. Some instances are very different, not every bum is a lazy ****head, but the majority are. 2 days after this 'spit in the plate for the bum' thread was started, I got a bum an interview here at my work, he wanted it.... and thats the **** that I love to help with. I bought the ****er lunch. Whatever he needed. He looked like ****, sure, he smelled like ****, no doubt, but when I got him that application and scheduled an interview for the next day..... you best believe he came in shaved, hair cut, and decent clothes (not the best, lol, but I can't knock him for that... you can tell he tried). The Operations Manager met with him and said he has a good chance at getting the job. Making it happen and controlling your destiny, once again, is what its all about. Take initiative, and you get initiative. Make none, you get none.

In the interim, take what I do and my reactions for the reasoning I put behind them and not for each single incident as an act of being an ******* for my own pleasure. If you choose not to, then this is just a dead subject that should be dropped right here.
