View Full Version : Purity and fish!
Well me and my girlfriend are looking to buy a little tank and have some fish. Well she wants it. So anyway, i was wondering what kind of fish i should get and what type of tank, like salt or fresh, i dunno anything about this ****. So i am kinda asking you to help me out if possible and just shed some light on what to get and what not. Thanks dude or anyone else if they can help.
Purity 06-14-2004, 12:12 PM saltwater looks 10 times better but is more expensive and needs a lot more maintenence. i would go with salt but it really depends on how much $$ you guys could initially put into it and how your schedule is.
Bluecifer 06-14-2004, 12:17 PM Salt does look better, but if you're going to get just a small tank, you could make it look pretty good with fresh water. It's way cheaper and easier and you'll probably still like it alot, esoecially if you get african cichlids. They're very colorful and they like to fight.
realkaps 06-14-2004, 12:21 PM Get Pacu's....
Thanks. I would guess probably only about 200 bucks or 250 at the most to start with, it's mostly going to be my money anyway. I just don't know what to do, or get. All this ***** is telling me is 'I want fishies.'

Ya that does look cool. But it's that a lot of money to buy all that **** in there?
Purity 06-14-2004, 12:41 PM Thanks. I would guess probably only about 200 bucks or 250 at the most to start with, it's mostly going to be my money anyway. I just don't know what to do, or get. All this ***** is telling me is 'I want fishies.'
well if yer doin it just to shut her up then go with a boring & ugly freshwater tank cause that's all you'll be able to afford. but consider at least SHOWING her these nano tanks. go to a tropical store and check em out. you may find that they're worth the extra time & $$$
actually, now that i think about it...
a lot of the stores have nano package deals for about $2-300 where they gave you the tank, gadgets, rock, sand, and feesh. check em out.
Purity 06-14-2004, 12:43 PM what's gonna cost you the most are the corals. but you NEVER get that much livestock until you know how yer **** runs. then you can start gettin yer additions slowly. man, you ****ers outta see how decked out my tank is now!
handjobs4dollars 06-14-2004, 12:45 PM How much money would it cost to make a tank to hold a 110 pound woman. I want her to have some extra room to move around. I don't want my new pet getting fat.
Purity 06-14-2004, 12:49 PM shut up
Doesn't the Dentist give you a free goldfish when you visit(my old dentist used to). If so, punch her in the mouth.
KittyKitty 06-14-2004, 01:24 PM Get Pacu's....
do NOT get pacus.
KittyKitty 06-14-2004, 01:26 PM i would say just do a freshwater tank if you've only got 200 bucks to deal with here.
african cichlids are cool, but they ARE agressive. if you want to stuff a tank full of REALLY colorful fish, I would stick with angelfish, rainbows, and gouramis. those are all the most colorful types of freshwater community fish. if you've got any ?'s about them just ask me. i work in a ****in' fish store.
Purity 06-14-2004, 02:03 PM notice how she says '****IN fish store'. can't just say "fish store" but has to throw the **** in there.
just another reason why this woman will be my bride.
realkaps 06-14-2004, 03:04 PM Pacu's are the way to go........
KittyKitty 06-14-2004, 03:23 PM pacus get huge and you can't ever get rid of them cause no fish store wants them.
plus they look like mentally retarded pirahnas.
realkaps 06-14-2004, 03:28 PM Yeah, and they kill everything else in the tank.........
The Golden Bear 06-15-2004, 03:18 AM i like oscars. but they freshwaters
realkaps 06-15-2004, 03:20 AM Oscars are great too.......
nance 06-15-2004, 05:27 AM Okay, a reminder of one my stories....sorry if it bores ya all.
Hubby went fishing in the canal and caught a small mouth bass and brought it home to put in the tank. Along with it, he caught a large talapi (sp?) and the two became buddies of sorts. Well, the bass ate talapi for it's meal. The talapi decided to be like the bass and eat it's own kind. So Hubby always had to catch small ones for it to eat. The talapi got HUGE! One day, the bass went on a feeding frenzy, not wanting to share with the talapi.......we found him belly up stuffed so full that he had fins hanging out of his mouth.
Boy oh boy, was I so happy that damn fish died. The tank stunk to high heaven, no matter how often we cleaned and changed the filters, etc. I was happy, hubby was bummed, but oh well. Greedy bass. :firedevil
Purity- how big is the tank in those pictures dude?
Purity 06-16-2004, 04:20 PM i think they're around 10 gallons. people use em at home & at the office.
