I added washers to the thing so it could handle getting slammed without the knotted rope popping out. I notice it hits my triceps, shoulders, core, back, and legs (in that order). JabSandwich 04-29-2009, 08:30 PM also improves ur grip Marvin6591 04-29-2009, 08:31 PM i do this about 3-4 times a week helps increase forearms as well supRa 04-29-2009, 09:27 PM hell yeaaaaaaaaa thats what the marquez bros do!!!!! Marvin6591 04-29-2009, 11:18 PM anyone else have other unique non traditional methods of training? RightHooker 04-30-2009, 01:26 AM Slege hammer swings are a great technique. They say it increases punching power, I not exactly sure about that it definitely strengthens your arms and shoulders and is good for upper body endurance. We do a drill at our gym where we do 10 swings over the left shoulder, 10 over the right and then sprint to the end of the parking lot (50 yards or so) and then do 10 pushups and 10 jump squats doing a fast jog back to the tire and hammer. 3 x 3 minute rounds of that = death. If you've got a sturdy wall, do a 'wall sit' or 'invisible chair' against it and slam the ball back and forth against the wall rotating at the waist. Kinda hard to explain but it's a great exercise for strengthening the core esp obliques. d_lyrik803 04-30-2009, 02:13 AM it improves strength, grip, legs, and footwork if u're creative enough. i do it 1 min then jump on the tire itself (need a pretty decent size tire) and do simple footwork on it like criss cross jumping, alternating, and also bunny hopping side to side with the sledgehammer over head for a minute, then hop back down and hit it for another minute. eventually anybody that hasnt seen you in a while in the gym is going to notice increased power and quicker footwork JabSandwich 04-30-2009, 09:16 AM anyone else have other unique non traditional methods of training? its called CrossFit or Caveman Training, basically training that helps develop ur functional strength. sledge, bear crawls, rope climbing, kettle bells, theres tons also came across an article in men's health, heres the link to the guy's (Erwan Le Corre) site http://movnat.com/ |
