View Full Version : Craig McEwan's next opponent Brian Vera alza1988 04-28-2009, 04:16 PM Anybody know much about him ? I read it's a big step up in class for McEwan :boxing: http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=371307&cat=boxer Dem Eyes 04-28-2009, 04:16 PM Didn't realise McEwan was that old :( alza1988 04-28-2009, 04:18 PM Didn't realise McEwan was that old :( 27 ain't that old Dem Eyes 04-28-2009, 04:21 PM 27 ain't that old I know it's not that old, but I thought he was about 3 years younger. :boxing: Recently, Vera fought undefeated and highly touted prospect Andy Lee. In a fight that he was supposed to lose according to most critics, Brian Vera pulled up the upset win and TKO Andy Lee in the 7th round. Though the TKO was questionable by many, Andy Lee's face was beaten and swollen compared to Vera's face which had no bruising. Vera faced James Kirkland and lost the fight by TKO. MON THE McEWAN !!! Infern0 04-28-2009, 05:05 PM "unlike the uk lads?" it says on boxrec hes from the uk? Dem Eyes 04-28-2009, 05:06 PM "unlike the uk lads?" it says on boxrec hes from the uk? He obviously thinks Scotland is separate from the UK :nana: Rocky. 04-28-2009, 05:11 PM "unlike the uk lads?" it says on boxrec hes from the uk? What i ment with that is, unlike the other prospects back in the uk, hes getting top sparring in the wild card gym, and getting fed tougher opponents, america is the place to be, am glad hes out their learning from one of the best trainers in the world. Just had to watch a top prospect in scotland get fed to the lions at the weekend, boxing like a bum, the trainer was a total amatuer that done nothing for him, and the promoter was responsible for feeding him to the lions den, all because he was offered alot of money by hayemaker. What about those olympians then, they only fight twice a year and get to main event ppvs against bums! Refreshing to see someone taking a different path in his career and plying his trade overseas. He will be looked after at the Wild Card and hopefully be immune from being hyped up too early like a lot of UK fighters. alza1988 04-30-2009, 07:54 AM http://sport.scotsman.com/boxing/Boxing-McEwan-closes-in-on.5221080.jp The RealDeal 04-30-2009, 02:55 PM Brian Vera was in The Contender wasn't he ? alza1988 05-05-2009, 06:10 PM ESPN 2 this Friday . Should get a decent stream for that channel you usually do . Hopefully McEwan wins for the Scots :boxing: good_looking01 05-06-2009, 05:03 PM I haven't ever seen him box but have read very good things about McEwan. Vera is a big step up in class but is vulnerable himself when he decides to open up. It should be a good entertaining fight. Best of luck to Craig though. Hopefully after a couple of good wins in the states he can fight the likes of Mathew Macklin and Darren Barker. It's about time we had a few good domestic tear ups in the MW Division. alza1988 05-09-2009, 03:58 AM alza1988 05-09-2009, 12:25 PM http://espn.go.com/boxing/?indexFormat=video Infern0 05-09-2009, 06:20 PM Mcewan won by the way UD 93-97 all cards, but the commentary had mcewan by 9 rounds to 1 The RealDeal 05-09-2009, 07:39 PM http://espn.go.com/boxing/?indexFormat=video Looks like he was schooling Vera in that video. |
