View Full Version : So I'm studying T.I. (no homo)
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 02:45 PM Im gonna go from his first cd to his most recent....Paper Trail is the only TI cd that i have really listened to. After discovering that theres a population of people that consider him the King of the South, i realized that its time for the Mac to do some studying (no homo).
#1 I'm Serious (2001)
#2 Trap Muzik (2003)
#3 Urban Legend (2004)
#4 King (2006)
#5 T.I. vs. T.I.P. (2007)
#6 Paper Trail (2008)
Im almost complete with his first cd....in my opinion it is HOT....garbage. For a southern rapper, i consider him to be good lyrically but the production was not very good on this album. From what I understand, many consider Trap Muzik to be his best. I will be back with updates
Stab Judah 04-27-2009, 02:49 PM Scarface is and will always be the KING OF THE SOUTH!
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 02:54 PM your probably right, but i cant say that with certainty until i listen to all the worthy candidates...the first song on trap muzik was really bad, but the 2nd song is real nice (I cant quit). The 3rd song sounds good too....(be easy)

It's alright I don't get into the king of this and that stuff anyway.
I do think Wayne would have more claim to the "title" right now though.
oldgringo 04-27-2009, 03:23 PM Urban Legend is his best effort in my opinion. Easy to listen to all the way through. I don't consider TI to be an amazing lyricist or the king of the south or anything though.
sisforshaq 04-27-2009, 03:30 PM Urban Legend is his best effort in my opinion. Easy to listen to all the way through. I don't consider TI to be an amazing lyricist or the king of the south or anything though.
Agreed and King is pretty stellar aswell.
Truth 04-27-2009, 04:24 PM TIP is my favorite rapper from the south. The only TI album I don't own is I'm Serious.
In my opinion songs like this on Paper Trail elevated him from a very very good rapper....to a great rapper. This song is actually inspiring...........

Truth 04-27-2009, 04:26 PM as far as having a good message, thats one of the top songs from 08....^
Truth 04-27-2009, 04:41 PM TI is good lyrically. But really what makes him special is his charisma and flow...
-Blackout- 04-27-2009, 04:47 PM Urban Legend, King and Paper Trail is his best IMO.. First one is garbage..
Sick/ 04-27-2009, 04:52 PM Trap muzik is the best album. I wern't impressed with Urban Legend
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 07:34 PM urban legend sounds good so far...im on the song "ASAP"
Truth 04-27-2009, 07:42 PM ASAP is that song...^ I love that ****.
I think King is my favorite Tip album. But Paper Trail is a close second...
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 07:55 PM TIP is my favorite rapper from the south. The only TI album I don't own is I'm Serious.

thats probably my favorite song by him so far
Truth 04-27-2009, 07:56 PM thats probably my favorite song by him so far
yeah that song was great, I think Nas and 2-Pac would even co-sign that song.
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 10:06 PM i liked urban legend...my favorite one so far, now im listening to King. Sounds good so far, im listening to "get it" right now
Truth 04-27-2009, 10:06 PM King is my favorite...whatchu you know about that is a classic.
Truth 04-27-2009, 10:10 PM <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J4X1CyE43KQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J4X1CyE43KQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
CLASSIC.....TIP
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 10:13 PM i was never a real big fan of that song, i remember when it was popular...my favorite song off this album so far is why you wanna
I gotta say...its been a minute since I listened to paper trail but i like that more then anything i heard so far...but i think it was trap muzik that had the song produced by kanye west, that song was classic ****.
Truth 04-27-2009, 10:16 PM His best album is either King of Paper Trail....it could go either way for me....
I don't even know. I think Paper Trail might be his best album all around.

Classic song off King...TIP
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 10:34 PM after going through all of his cd's except ti vs tip, this is how i would rate them
im serious-2/5
trap muzik-3/5
urban legend-3/5
King-3/5
paper trail-3.5
no hate, he had some good songs on the cds that i gave 3/5 too and overall i like them, but at the same time they were nothing that blew me away with the exception of a couple songs here and there. Some of the songs were boring to me...his flow and voice are average to me, but again there are some songs where i thought his flow was real good.
Lets remember though, i only listened to these cd's once. It will be a while before i can give them a fair assessment but thats what i think as of right now. Hes got skill and hes definitely good for a southern rapper...i was expectin alot more, not really because of posters on here (truth and other TI fans), but posters all over the internet. Hes well liked for the most part. Ill continue to listen to his cd's and update this thread.
Truth 04-27-2009, 10:42 PM ^I think its just because its one of those things.........some people love eggs in the morning...others think eggs are ok....other hate eggs.....
its all good. I respect your opinion.
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 10:49 PM im listening to paper trail right now and it sounds alot better to me then his other cd's...his flow seems more consistent throughout the album, i think it might have been some of the beats on the other songs that i wasnt really feeling. I cant figure this out, because theres alotta people that like him and co-sign him to the fullest...but i think kinda like you said, theres always gonna be a couple rappers that people with similar tastes like, that i dont like and that goes for everyone. Theres alotta nas fans that like I Am alot but dont really like nastradamus, im the opposite way.
But im listening to my life your entertainment right now, i might have to raise paper trail up to a 4
Truth 04-27-2009, 10:54 PM You know what? its possible TIP could be making his best music right now. I can't wait till he gets out of jail. The song "no matter what" is one of my all time favorite rap songs......and that was from paper trail. Not to say that his other stuff isn't good, but I think his new stuff is better overall. Paper Trail was a little more consistent than his other albums.....I agree.
Floyd Sinclair 04-27-2009, 11:00 PM thats very rare for me, to like the last cd the most by a rapper with 3 or more cd's....i almost always like the 1st or 2nd the most. Off the strength of paper trail, i wont hesitate to download the next ti album.
sisforshaq 04-28-2009, 12:24 PM I think he took a while to properly evolve and when he did.. we got 2 tremendous albums and then Paper Trail which was for me a bit to commercial (the rihanna song, the timberlake song etc) but it finally sealed him to the general public as a great artist. Don't get me wrong Paper Trail has some fresh ****ing TI records, but my favorite album is between Urban Legend and King. For me I break it down as following.
Im Serious- A raw debut that didn't do justice to what he would become.
Trap Muzik- Launched him into pop culture with "24s" and "Rubberband Man", was one of those knocking on the door step records to a great album.
Urban Legend- The final chapter in TI's "raw" stage. Easily the best of the previous 3. It has a smooth flow through out and pretty much ends that stage of his career in a great way.
King- The breakout album for superstardom, still had signs of that raw music but evolved in to better beat selection and a nack for making great records. Was a fantastic listen and still is for me.
TI vs TIP- Couple nice tracks, forgettable .. I would chalk it up to the sophmore slump of the new sound for TI (King to Paper Trail).
Paper Trail- The peak of Tips new sound. Got attention from everybody and had some fantastic records on it. It had a couple tracks for me that were to bubble gum (Rihanna, JT..although TIP murders that track, Usher). But felt like the peak for his sound.
TI has a fantastic catalog of albums and did what Jay did. Crossed Over in a way that he kept respect and a fan base from all sorts of people. He will be remebered as an artist who always came with a fresh sound and innovative records.
Truth 04-28-2009, 12:31 PM TIP is like the southern Jay-Z....only not nearly as good as Jay to be honest. And thats coming from a big TI fan.
