Heads were turned in Tokyo today when K-1 held up a fight contract displaying the signature of Mike Tyson.
Sadaharu Tanigawa went into details about K-1's future plans with Tyson and claimed to have a major U.S. and worldwide TV deal.
Tanigawa stated that details are being worked out with Mike Tyson and his camp for a possible return to the ring. Tanigawa also stated that no opponent is officially in mind (other than Bob Sapp) but Tyson would earn a "boxing-like" payday for the match.
The biggest shocker was that K-1 openly spoke of a deal with HBO which could propel not only K-1 Kickboxing but K-1 MMA to the mainstream viewers. While not a free cable channel, HBO is the largest premium movie/special events channel in the world and would be a heavy boost for all involved.
K-1 said that their first HBO show would take place at either the MGM in Vegas, MSG in New York or the Staples Center in LA.
This is getting more and more closely to being a "done deal" than ever according to Tanigawa.
