The Invasion angle was, for me, the "jump the shark" moment of the WWE's comeback (I consider the comeback from when Steve Austin became a superstar and they finally started beating WCW in the ratings). The idea behind the Invasion was a great idea and generated interest but they dropped the ball with the execution and after, they started losing their momentum badly and I found myself less and less interested with what was going on.

yeah it was a great idea, but Vince had to much pride to let it work. WCW and ECW needed more of their own, and why have their leader be Stone Cold? How about Sting? The only good things that came out of that angle were the Angle/Austin matches (Summerslam 01 was a great match) and the Hardy/RVD matches (ladder match). Thats about it....oh and the "WHAT" phrase by Stone Cold. Lil John stole that from him...

Even with the absence of the guys with big contracts, the invasion angle could have been successful if booked correctly. In RD Reynolds' "The Death of WCW" he brings up the fact that Booker T and Dallas Page were, at the time, just about as popular as Hall and Nash were when they entered WCW...
