They don't care if your child gets an education or not. They cater only to the smart kids and don't help the ones who need it. The sad part is all of the kids of today hold our future in theirs.

One for the geniuses(sp), one for the average students, one for specialties (mechanics, steel work, etc...) and one for the mentally handicapped. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to agree with you. handjobs4dollars 05-13-2004, 10:31 PM Actually in school they use to care about me alot for my spelling and reading level problems but they sucked at doing it. Maybe if they had told me how to read the right way I wouln't have this problem. All they did was show you a word and say "This is the word and this is how you spell it.". I was never instructed in the sound it out method. So here's the problem if I have never seen the word before I can't spell it. Man they really messed me up. I had a 110 IQ at the age of 13 but because I didn't learn the right way, I'm ****ed for life. I should sue the government. Sometimes I'll be writing, I'll start thinking ahead of the words I'm writing and I'll leave words out. Man I had the school system. I'm going to start teaching my kids the proper way to read and not the way I learned, If I ever have any. Squezze 05-14-2004, 12:31 AM Why should school districts care if a certain person or people get an education? What it boils down to is that it's the child's responsiblilty to learn, as long as the child isn't mentally disabled or something. They put it out there, and it's up to the person to soak it up. Some of the dumbest people I've ever met got straight As and some of the smartest people I know, flunked out of high school. If you did ****ty in school, it's nobody's fault but your own. People are always looking to attach blame to someone else, when the most obvious person to blame is the kid. nance 05-14-2004, 12:55 AM My son does have a disability. It's called ADD from a head truama. His frontal lobe cortex was affected and this is where you do your learning from. It's also the behavioral issues, which is why I have had so much trouble from him. I also have two high acheivers who take AP classes, carry a 3.8 or better, are also involved with whatever sport or other extra curricular activity that strikes their fancy. Everything comes easy for them. This is how I've made my determination that school districts cater to the smart kids. I can't get the help my son needs from the very institution that is supposed to be teaching him. He doesn't need alot, but he needs more than they've been giving him. We've been blaming him for years and thru research and experience, he does well when given that extra help. And the schools HAVE to give it to him. It's just a fight to get what is rightfully his. An Education. It shouldn't be this hard. |
